  • Phone Kit in GXL

    Hi everyone,
I am looking for information from anyone who has fitted a phone kit to their GXL Prado. I have heard that the standard stereo has a mute input for the phone kit, but I would like to know if anyone has the phone sound comming through the stereo, or do you have to use an external speaker? Any picks of mounting options would be great too!

The head unit in the grande has a mute but I am told there is no input - so the kit must use an external speaker.

I've just had a bluetooth kit fitted and it is f***ing fantastic! I've never been a fan of bluetooth (jeyboards mice etc), but now with this I'm hooked!

I really recommend it to anyone looking for a simple solution to phone problems in car.

Version 12 seems to ring a bell for me - as I had five trips to the dealer to fix the darn thing in the first week of the car's life.

As it turns out, the pre-delivery guys failed to check the thing and two wires had been wrongly connected - problem solved (only after wasting several hours of my time and stuffing up several workdays though...)

During one of the trips, the dealer tried to swap DVD's - the dealer's disc was identical to mine.

From what I hear (from 2 different dealers), the Grande arrives in Australia with a hole in the dash.

The satnav unit is apparently fitted locally (something to do with import duties/quotas) and one of the things on the dealer's pre delivery checklist is the correct functioning of the unit (obviously not checked).

In any event, I'm just glad it is OK and wasn't something more serious -there was originally talk of the dealer asking Toyota for permission to replace the head unit...
