  • Ralle 4000 lights and Electric Break units

    Great Forum everyone

Ive Just Stepped out of a VXSS Commadore and have ordered a New GXL TD Manual Prado with Factory Bull bar Towbar and cant wait to pick it up next friday

I have a Few Questions that owners may be able to help me with

Will a Set of Ralle 4000 spots fit in the factory Alloy Bar ?
being a Sales Rep and Desiel fitter by Trade i have always had a set on the company car and believe these are some of the best lights on the market and would like to fit a set to the new car.

Can anyone advise me of a decent electric break unit to fit to the car and where to fit it ??

Finally has anyone fitted a TX4400 UHF and where would the best place to fit it be.

Look foward to having a 4WD and not getting the company car stuck when on skiing expoditions
    Cheers

    Welcome Rob,

With the factory sovereign bar I think you'll find the Rallye 4000 too tall to fit under the top rail in the factory mount points. From memory the clearance is only about 220mm and the 4000 come in at 233 without covers. I also ran into this problem fitting a set of Cibie round spots. If you drill holes further back it will probably foul the grill with the bonnet opening. With the radio I'm guessing you have the extra mounts for aerial etc you could maybe make up a bracket between these points to mount them upside down or rise side up above the bonnet line but don't know that the RTA would look kindly on that.

Mine is auto and I have the electric brake mounted under the left side of the dash below the steering wheel within reach, not suitable for a manual if you are over about 5ft and my wife keeps complaining as she bangs her knee against it.

There's not much room in the dash for 4400 so your options are really to put it in the centre console, mount it using a roof console or to the side of the console along the trannie tunnel. I think a few guys have said they have theirs on there. Again not much room with a manual so the passenger side is your only real option. Search the threads as there's been discussion previous on where to fit a radio in these.

Tx3200/Tx3400 with remote head is much better suited for Prado

        Thanks AJ

I guess ill wait until the car turns up and see what i can do. i saw and ad for a compact series 4000 light that may be the other way to go.

I fitted a break unit to my father in laws 100 series Crusier in the spot you talked about and any one who drives it complains about the same thing. Ive herd that you can buy units that dont have be mounted on a level plain !
A mate told me this at the pub one night and Ive done no research on it at all.

The reason i want to fit the 4400 is there is one sitting in my shed and it also has the 20 programable channels to listen to the coppers

          Rob,

I have just had a Prodigy Brake unit installed. I was given two options on its location, the lower left hand side of the steering wheel, or in place of the ash-tray.

I opted to replace the ash-tray. The unit is easily removeable, so you can put the ash-tray (coin holder for non-smokers) back in when not towing.
