Don't order one if your Prado is before 2006. Ref to below Ron from Scanguage USA:

We have been hearing of a problem with Toyotas sold outside the US prior to
2006. I am currently working on the problem. At this time, I would have to
say that the ScanGaugeII may not be compatible with your vehicle.

    Ron
Drive it like you own it!!

It's worth noting than Ron is very conservative when assessing overseas vehicles for compatibility with his product - this is part of the reason the website used to say that they don't sell overseas. This is also the reason I believe they need a distributor in Australia to provide technical support and assessment. Unfortunately they don't agree.

My vehicle is a 2005 build V6 and the ScanGaugeII works fine, although I have heard of problems with earlier build dates. I guess the answer is to make sure your hardware build date works by checking a unit in your car or by knowing someone who has successfully used the unit in the same hardware build as yours.

For Petrol Prado built from 08/2004 (5 speed Auto) it will work fine.
For Diesel only new D4D diesels should be fine. (Though I haven't
tested it on one as yet).

Hi Drew did you have scangauge before your snorkle and if so how much has it effected intake air temp?
Also does it show average fuel consumption and can you hold the imfo when vehicle is switched off(battery backup?).
            Cheers Phil

              Good questions Phil,

I've had the ScanGaugeII for 10 months and only got the snorkel a few weeks ago. The change inlet temp data was very interesting after the snorkel installation. After the engine as been running and then stopped for a short while, the inlet temp falls much faster on restart. I was seeing temps as high as 60°C before the snorkel, now it's lower and it drops toward ambient quicker.

At speed, on a hot day, there used to be up to a 10°C delta between ambient (as displayed on the stock thermometer) and inlet temp. This was generally regardless of throttle usage. Since the snorkel went on, the inlet temp might creep about 4-5°C above ambient but as soon as I give it a bootful it sucks in cold air and the inlet temps falls back to ambient (or thereabouts). The fact that the snorkel is black means that in the sun when I'm not moving fast and not dragging air in (with throttle) the temp climbs up as above, but it's not at high as before. Highway driving nearly always results in inlet temp within about 2°C of ambient. A recent trip from Victoria to the family farm before the snorkel saw ambient temp of 30°C and inlet of 40°C when cruising at 100km/h.

Yes the SG will keep it's data when the engine is off, it has non-volatile memory - even remembers data when it's unplugged for short periods. This allows the unit to show historical fuel consumption data for the previous day or for the current tank. See my review here: http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php?t=566

Geez I can waffle on a bit.

                scanguage

I have ordered a scanguage recently sounds interesting to have all readouts again.I use a gps to give me kms, speed time etc when travelling.I believe that my prado reads slower than actual and yet the odometer is slower both out by at least 2%.Will be doing 1200 kms tomorrow to the nullabor had hoped scanguage would arrive.Have also downloaded all toyota error codes for future reference

I orderd mine last Friday night and received it yesterday... pretty good I reckon!

Can't remember everything from this mornings trip but it was something like :

                    Time 0.6hr
                    distance 13km
                    fuel used 2.3L
                    Max speed 84kph
                    Avg 20kph
                    Max Rpm 2950
                    Max Water Temp 86C
                    Avg K/100 17.7

that's what you get for a wet morning in Melb... slow with lots of stopping

Looking forward to when I'm touring with my scangauge (reading some nicer numbers!)

The Mrs filled the Playdo the other day and reset the Scangauge for the 1st time so I've been watching the odometer and the scangauges version of it and the scangauge was ticking over about 50m behind the cars odometer. I asked her if she reset them together and she replied no, "I had someone waiting behind me so I drove out before resetting it" (was 1st time she had reset it). I thought it amusing! Also, queried her why the day she had the car it had recorded a max speed of 89kph when there's only 80kph roads around us!

yeah, she's never had a speeding ticket in 20+ years and after giving me grief for the odd ticket I've received, I'm going to milk the 1st one she gets for all it's worth!
