  • Bought some air horns today

Got myself a set of stebel air horns off ebay today. Tired of the weak sound from the standard horn in the Prado.

Dual-tone air horn from Stebel of Italy. Loud enough to convince other drivers that there's a derailed freight train barreling down on them. Don't press the horn button in the garage, it hurts! At 139dB it can be heard for almost 3 city blocks! YEEEOOOWWW!
    2005 VX Turbo Diesel + a heap of add-ons.

I'll admit, i laughed at that discription...

there was a video that did the rounds a while back of some guys that had fitted a train horn to their car and drove around town setting it off.. very very amusing!!!

let me know if it lives up to it's claims.. i too am a little concerned that my beast makes the less noise than the wifes astra..

Yep, Let us know how they go.

That website on the bottom of the picture leans (pun) towards a bike accessory.
I have a bike also and have often thought about airhorns but its a bit cramped for space.
Let us know of their size please.

I would prefer to say "GET OUT OF THE WAY A'HOLE" instead of " good buy grandma"

Looks like a real bargain - I'm always a sucker for a nifty accessory.

Keen to hear what you think of it.

I assume that the cost of installation will far exceed the cost of the item itself...

What I like about the look of this one is that there is no external plumbing, I've got a set of Fiamm air horns brand new in the workshop but I haven't got around to fitting them yet, I've been putting it off due to all the piping.

Look forward to hearing how you go Emb.

Anyway, I'm too shy a driver to use the horn...........

                Cheers,

                Drew.

Wel I fitted them and well give some pics soon but the bolt that came with it fitted into a spot on the prado without the need for drilling. Its towards the back of the engine bay but the horn is still loud.

McBain just swap the horns over with the astra easy job. See if the wife notices the differance. Or buy a pair of commodore horns( they come as a pair,eg 06 statesman) and presto. Should bolt up to the same position as the original ones. They have a loud european type sound.
Better still get a horn off a tug boat and an onboard compressor
                      Cheers Phil.

I've heard of guys keeping the original horn and either having a dash switch to select between the two or to have the air horns cut in slightly after the standard one.

Not being an electrician, are either of these scenarios possible or feasible?

Mine arrived today - I've got a horn!!

Off to find a sparky to fit it tomorrow.

The side of the box has some barely visible instructions (mine are mostly torn by the tape I peeled off ops that allows for their fitment in addition to the standard one.
