I have posted this under thread to do with a brake shudder using Prodigy brake control unit but encounter another problem with blown fuse and repeat my posting below.
Picked up the van from caboolture today and on the test run the Prodigy worked well and there was no shudder in brake, so it appears the rewiring did the trick.
However, on test drive I noticed that the air con and indicators were not working, and a warning light came on (orange under oil can bottom right).
Back to caravan repair place and van checked as ok , but unable to see if a fuse was blown, as there is no fuse shown for Indicators
Took car to Toyota (Martin Jonkers Morayfield) and they found the fuse and replaced it and reset code. Fuse is under dash to right of steering wheel and is No "IG2" I think.
They said it was probably caused by van plug being wired in such a way that was not compatible with Prado wiring.
I have a 7 pin plug and originally this also powered the fridge in the Jayco.
Recently had the wiring set up so that fridge now runs off the battery in van and this battery is charged via Anderson Plug from Prado to anderson plug on van.
Back to caravan repair shop(Caboolture Caravan Repairs), and they inserted new fuse and hey presto both car and van indicators, and car air con worked.
Toyota had told me that the problem would be that wiring was such that when I reversed fuse would blow. To be safe I did not reverse anywhere between Toyota and shop.
However, after repair shop disconnected black wire ,that originally led to fridge, from 7 pin plug and reconnected plug to van blinkers etc did not work , and the warning light came back on.
New fuse and warning light off and blickers/air con all worked and I drove back home no troubles.
The repair shop suggested I have wire to Pin 2 disconnected from socket on car to avoid further problems .
When I towed van up the only difference was the old wiring on Tekonsha , so am at a loss as to why with heavier wire problem occured, but I guess this is one of those mysteries of life.
Top marks to Caravan Repairs Caboolture and Martin Jonkers who fixed problem not caused by Toyota or repair shop free of charge.
