  • Spotlight Switch?

    Hey guys,

Got a pair of Hella Ralleye 2000's from the wife (I knew I married her for a reason!) and have no idea on how they're gonna be wired on the inside.

The pre-requisite is 'fine lines' and 'surfaces darling' so I guess that means a switch on the dash somewhere that doesn't resemble the time circuts in the Delorean.

So, who's best bet to get a prado switch that can be added to one of the face plates in the dash? Do Toyota sell them or should I go to and ARB store?

    Any tips would be tops.

    Thanks,
    Peter

I think you'll find Narva do switches that fit pretty bloody well.

can pick them up from Repco.

heaps of threads on here talking about them but i haven't seen a picture of them installed yet... (even though i've got 3 or 4 of them in a repco bag downstairs that i'm yet to wire up!)

If you use the search button you will find about 10 months ago some postings regarding the switches, there was also a follow up a few days ago.
You can get the original switches for this purpose as a special order..

I might try the Narva switches too...

I also searched for the previous thread, but all I found was "Aftermarket switches to fit the standard switch plate....?" any idea what the name of the other thread was?

                Mates,

Here is the switch that fits the FJ Cruiser. It looks like it's the same size. I can always send you the blank that goes into the spot to make sure.

                Please let me know,

                -Ben

                    Mates,

It was made for the Toyota Tacoma. We call it a "Taco" switch. It is the same as the Hi-Lux.

                    Good luck,

                    -Ben

I've ordered one of the switches off the fjcruiseroffroad.com web site.

It was USD 54.99 plus USD 15.00 for air mail to Australia.

I should get it next week. If you want to wait a week, I'll let you know if it fits the Prado 120 series dash but it sure looks like it will.

It's given me an idea that maybe I can get a second one and use it for a rear fog light.

One thing I would love that isn't on the Australian models is heated external rear vision mirrors.

My Prado 120 replaces my Holden Frontera (made in the good ol USA as the Isuzu Rodeo) and I love the heated mirrors when we have frost and snow here at home.

                      Thanks FlyNdrive for the link.

                      Regards

Good luck with the switches. I was hoping that the Hi-Lux switch was the same. If it is there is a small strip of plastic that prevents it from fitting. It may need to be shaved off and can be done with a pocket knife in <1 Min.

                          Please let me know.

BYW I use fjcruiseronline.com all the time. They do special requests. I even got them to import the Cyclone Pre-Cleaner for others to get here in the US (thanks by the way....that's how I came to walk among you PradoPointers) If you all need something that is unavailable in Oz please let Barbara know in Internet parts and she can set all of you up.

I received the switch from the US in Fridays mail from Barbara King at http://www.shop.fjcruiseroffroad.com...&productId=135
Excellent friendly service. Only took 5 days to arrive via US & AUS Post.
                            USD 54.99 + USD 15.00 for pack & send.
On Visa it worked out at AUD $78.89 from my account. Good exchange rates just now.

                            What you get?

                            http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee44 ... 7038cr.jpg

The switch has four connector posts running vertically.
I only used the top 2 as they are for the switch and the bottom two are for the backlighting of the pictogram in the switch.
I haven't wired that up but will get to it later. I didn't have a lot of time.

                            http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee44 ... 7040cr.jpg

I have an August 07 build Prado GXL and this switch fits the empty blank position in the next picture without any trimming or filing, etc.
It doesn't slot into the any of the other blanked out spots.
They each have a different cut out pattern.
You can see the Hella toggle switch that my dealer installed with the standard Hella Rallye 1000's.
You can get in behind the panel easily from the fuse compartment shown.
(I also tidied up the wiring.)

                            http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee44 ... 7041cr.jpg

I've opted for the Toyota 'fog light' switch because it's much neater and more professional in appearance.

                            http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee44 ... 7043cr.jpg

Thanks FlyNdrive for the link to fjcruiser in the US.
