Hi everyone,
I had an interesting experience two weeks ago when traveling on the Birdsville track. I lost a filler plug/cap for my second battery. it seemed to have vibrated off and had lost some fluid - battery acid!!! Surprise surprise. I went to the Birdsville tip and found an old battery with the same cap(not so easy so many types), and hey presto, all fixed. Then poured alot of water about to dilute any wayward acid. It is amazing what comes loose and shows the need to check under the bonnet everyday when on the track.

Sounds like you need to get a gel battery!

Same thing happened to me playing in the dunes at Lancelin. The garage in Lancelin couldn't help so I used copious amounts of duck tape till I got back to town. went toBatteries PLus to get the battery checked (it was OK) & whilst there asked if I could pinch a cap off one of their old batteries. He gave me 3, one to replace the missing one & one to ensure that Murphys law means I'll never need the other 2 as long as I carry them with me everywhere:)
