  • Hella 4000 vs. IPF 900xs

I am trying to decide between the Hella 4000 and IPF 900xs. I've got a pic of the IPF can someone post a front-on pic of the 4000s on an ARB deluxe bar?

4000's may need a spacer plate to bring them forward as they get in the way of the bonnet opening. I tink this has been corrected on most of the ARB bars now thuogh by a relocated hole?

Compact 4000's would be a better choice as they will fit easier and have a have longer range and a smaller size.

Great pics, thanks! I assume yours are standards and not compacts? Pretty much convinced me to go Hella 8)

Excellent, how do you find the spot/spread combo works?

When i ordered them spoke one guy who talked me into two spot but gave the rig to the misses to get fitted and she told another guy she wanted to see the side of the road more. So he said well you will want combo. I am still unsure if it was the right way to go as i love the spot  .

Another way around that is to get a third light  now that would be good

You want the spot/spread especially if you HID them.

                  lightforce

lightforce lights are the way to go compared to ipf lights, i dont know over the hella 4000's though. But i wouldnt purchase ipf lights again. Also the lightforce globes are cheaper when replacing.
                  cheers

I have 8 pairs of lightforce sitting in a box in the shed with busted mounts. I really hate the way they bust under severe vibration.

The 4000 compacts have done more miles now than 4 sets of lightforce!!! :x thank F**k we didnt pay for them.. My personal experience has led me to not be a liker of them at all.

Light wise, there is a thread posted here http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... hlight=hid showing a comparison of the lightforce to 4000 compact output on a back road atg one of the rallies. Have a look at the pics and gauge for yourself

Thanks Steve, I have XGTs on the Mav and whilst happy with their output I'd prefer a metal light as the plastic on the XGTs is starting to look a little 2nd hand after only 3 years. I've also had IPF before and whilst ok I won't be buying them again.

Ive had IPFs on the bullbar of the work truck for years, they are a tough light, you have to run genuine bulbs though, they are the only bulbs that last ! Im talking the old 900s with the 130 watt globes. There is no way a plastic light would have gone the distance, numerous wildlife have seen my IPFs just before their inards  and other than a few pairs of lens covers all is good  I cannot praise the strength of them enough. A bit like my 20 year old Engel.
