Noticed this morning the A/C tripped out and the green light on the a/c switch was flashing. Tried manually turning it off and on again a few times but it would only stay on for about 5 secs and cut out again.
I figured the system was probably low on gas, but decided to call a couple of auto sparky's to get their opinion. The first wouldn't offer any opinion without having a look and testing the system, the second said it was most likely the compressor clutch slipping as they have a sensor to detect if there is a different rate to the engine rpm and therefore it was likely the sensor was shutting it down. A new compressor would most likely be the answer.!  Just what I wanted to hear..!!!!!
I decided to do some research, seemed no one else has had the same experience as I couldn't find anything on PP but found a similar question asked on yahoo answers and the answer was.! THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM WITH AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE IS THE A/C MAGNETIC CLUTCH RELAY.
With nothing to lose I decided to take a peek in the fusebox, and swapped the MG/CLT relay with the fog light relay and :!: :!: it worked a treat. 8) And believe it or not the fog lights still work as normal.!! I will be grabbing a spare relay just in case but I don't think I've ever had a repair bill that cheap.. 8)
Thought I would share my find, so maybe someone else can find the same simple cure. 8) I'll send the invoice out later if you do.......
