  • Window bug

I have a 2005 TD auto and just recently the front passenger side window would not open as well the driver side window would only fully open or close. With much toggling the button the driver side worked fine but the passenger side failed to operate. Then presto about a week later it now works fine.......has anyone out there had similiar problem, or what was the problem?

If the battery has been disconnected, the windows need to be cycled open and closed by holding the control on each door before the central control on the drivers door will work. At least that is what I have found works.

Yeah I had a very similar experiance as well. I bought my 2008 prado a couple of weeks ago and the Mrs convinced me to install the stereo from our old vehicle. I had to disconnect the battery several times during this process and yes window troubles every time.

      1. Lost auto winding function on the drivers and front passengers side.
      2. Lost control of front passengers window from drivers side control
      3. The little light on both drivers and front passengers switchs was flashing.

I thought this is just great  everything was double checked as reassembled. However as I was driving all of a sudden everything went back to normal.

I have to admit I think my prado has a mind of its own and it's definately female . I will be having a chat to the head technician when it goes in for the first free service soon.

I might also re-read and get aquianted with the procedure for jump starting too . . . . . .

There is nothing unusual. Its because the battery was disconnected. Press the window button on each door fully down, then up. It will also require you re-programme all your radio settings i.e stations, bass, treble etc..

I believe this is in the owners manual under Power Windows.

I think barnesy is right the prados are female. we get lots of silly little things like that. We have had the windows doing that for no reason, cruise plays up. the headlights switched on themselves. the wireless bluetooth phone thing doesnt always work and today the cd player doesnt work. So i cant hear HI 5 now.

the key in all of this is that the windows need to be lowered and when raising them keep the switch depressed for two seconds after fully raising them so the window module can reset the high limit position.

                      Re: Window bug

Another thanks for the search function and especially to Damian Parker.
My @#$%^ brother in law let the passengers door fly open in the wind and the door keeper bent under the force and
bent all the window track inside the door. after putting it off since xmas finally straightened the track but was left convinced the window mech was still broke as window had no auto function.

thanks for the post on down then up and hold on for two seconds, fixed it

                      Thanks
