  • Waeco Plug

I am looking at hard wiring my waeco fridge as a part of making a set of drawers for the back of the car. I will need to make/buy a new lead that will stay in the car as I still want to be able to take the fridge out of the car and put it in the camper at times. Does anyone know if the plug that is used (where it plugs into the fridge) is a waeco design of if I am able to buy just the plug and make my own lead.
    Thanks
    Scott

Probably easier to just buy another Waeco cord from any camping goods store.

Its a moulded end ... so its probably something unique to Waeco.

    Cheers

I suspect you are right Chippy, I was just trying to be tight and make one myself.

I have a couple of ways to connect Waeco to battery and each involves an Anderson Plug.

Check out page 3 of this thread for the photo of the installation of my wiring for fridge

If you purchased another Waeco lead you could adapt it and leave it permanenty connected to second battery , and just remove the fitting from fridge when you want it outside.

Yes Pedro, that is exactly what I am hoping to do, leave it permantly attached to the second battery. I am just hoping that I will be able to buy just the plug rather than the entire lead from waeco but that is not looking to be the case.

I tried the same but Waeco dont sell the plug by itself.

I ended up going to our local camping shop and asking them. As luck would have it they had a waeco lead that they had taken the other end off for something else . Gotta be lucky some times. Only cost me a gold coin donation into the lunch fund as well.

                      Re: Waeco Plug

I damaged my Waeco 12v cord recently ops: ops: but luckily I carried a spare - so no loss of foodstuffs.

Making the most of the bad situation, I am getting the damaged cord to have its 12v plug end replaced with an Anderson plug.

Will post a pic once completed.

I have also had to replace my waeco 12 volt lead....the black plastic near the Hema connection (I think it is called) had melted!

I am also now thinking of hard-wiring my waeco fridge in with my dual battery. Can someone post a pic of how they did this? and whilst you are at it - what the hell is an underson plug ops:

Go buy another Waeco fridge lead, cut off the cig lighter/hell end and splice it into the cable going to your battery. You can use a terminal block or just splice and solder, and heatshrink. You then have your original lead in case you want to run the fridge in another vehicle etc.
                              Cheers, Wayne
