  • 12v connection rear console? GXL

I have searched and couldnt find anything - have picked up some great headrests with inbuilt DVD screen plus player. The units have ability to connect to entertainment system or run independantly (both passengers can watch separate dvd's loaded behind screens - this is what I will be doing. I need to connect to a 12v power supply ideally perhaps console or if an accessory point under seat - has anyone done similar and know of an easily accessible option? Other alternative was hopefully to pry out the accessory 12v socket in front console - connect up wire and run to rear of console underneath.

    Any info greatly appreciated.

No in vinyl but the finish is really good - link below shows what looks like - I liked ability for two kids to be able to choose and watch what like - although probably need to wire to centre at some stage should they want to watch same thing - at this point theage difference is enough.

this type of talk never sounds like it will be a good ending.
remove your selector knobs (gear lever and transfer lever)
        un-zip handbrake boot.
lift up silver side trims on each side of selector.
open centre console and lift up the console panel.
now you can run which ever wires where ever you wont.
from accesory socket to rear of console, or
run wires under carpet to seat tracks and hide cable behind seat trims,
        and up each seat.

I got a pair of these too about 6 months ago and are one of the best things i have bought.
I have 2 kids (2 yo and 10yo) so it keeps them quiet on long journeys.
Regarding the power , i ran in a seperate cable from the aux battery(fused of course) so there was no interference(as in kids moaning when they go off then come back on again when the key is turned) when turning the ignition on and off (like you get with some cigarette outlets), and also if they decided to watch them whilst away camping.

Yes mate it does , from the centre consol and across in a bit of small black corrugated conduit and inside of the seat cover and up inside the chrome tube.

Is there a 12v cable running under the door sills to the rear power socket? If so it might be easier to pop these off and tap into the power from beside the seat.

Dazbrook will try and take a shot on weekend - look good - they also have av in and out so can connect both and have both only able to watch one or separately. Overall fairly happy although metal inserts into seat are a bit smaller than factory - came with additiional ones which could be slotted over and this was good on side without the notches to lock in height - requires a bit of modifiction to that side for insert to be used but overall ok.

And as zapper said there is tonnes of room in back of seat - ran the leads down and unhooked base of seat underneath (couple of pieces of elastic hooked on) and found I had all the room in the world to reach and pull through cables.

                      Hey Jungle,

Any chance of posting a photo of your headrests installed? I'm looking at ordering a pair of these on the weekend.

You just need to setup an account at somehwere like PhotoBucket which dosn't cost anything and then upload and link. PhotoBucket is not your only option but it works quite weel and I'm happy with that.
