  • Prodigy again

Hi all great information on the installation of the prodigy brake controller, but I have one question regarding directly wiring the unit to the battery.

Over a period of time will this drain the battery ?

No. The Prodigy has an automatic off after no movement detected for 15 minutes.

        Re: Prodigy again

I am looking at putting in a brake controller into my beast - I am somewhat electrically minded (have installed spotties, UHF and countless radios in vehicles) but would you guys suggest I get the brake controller professionally installed or is it something that can easily be done by the home DIY.

Thought I would post here rather than a new topic - given I would be looking at the prodigy.

so - just run some 6mm wire from the aux battery via a circuit breaker and away you go sort of thing?

Yep the hardest part was finding and cutting in the wire to the brake wire.

When you run your 6mm wire down for the sevice brake wire, run another 3mm wire with it and connect to a brake light wire.
Its alot easier than climbing under the dash and connecting to the brake switch.
I removed my ash tray and slid the controller in there, No Holes Drilled !

So I guess the brake wire is nothing serious - like the thin wire that goes to the relay from the high beam switch when powering lights?
