  • 2005 factory 6 stacker radio help

hello all. our glx radio has just died and i am looking for idears / help for a fix?
1, all the buttons except the cd controls seem to work just have no sound.
2, cd says no disk however there are 5 disks inside, and will not eject or load.
is it terminal? or has any one else had the same problem?
    thanks
    peter

Re: 2005 factory 6 stacker radio help

I think that the unit has died and it is better to get a replacement off ebay. I have bought quite a number off ebay to upgrade my previous Toyotas. It might be the cheaper option then getting your current unit repaired. It doesn't sound simple like a loose connection.

Perhaps now is a good excuse to upgrade to the Dig Options TP09X1 unit.

      Hi Peter,

Have you tried disconneting the battery for a few minutes?. it might reset the unit, i know when you do this normally the unit does a prechech for about 30 seconds and loads all 6 cds up and down, Could at least get your discs out if you are lucky.
On mine there is no radio security code, if you do have one you will need it ( from toyota via your vin number).

BTW i am also looking at replacing my 6 stacker for the ebay unit , just deciding whether its worth the money.

      regards

      Jeff

        ebay!

A red hot tip for installing the new unit:

Don't drink beer until after it is installed.

Found this out the hard way!

thanks for the suggestions, yes i tried to reset every thing first, then pulled it out to check all the conections still no success. debating where to next
put in for a quote for a fix or try to find another one on ebay. does any one know, will the newer one with blue tooth will bolt stright in or does it require some mods to work. im a auto elec so small mods are not a problem.
          or
          sugestions for a replacement please?
          we whant,
          1. stacker
          2. gps
          3. blue tooth
          4. rear camera
not realy interested in a single disk dvd player as we will have twin screens in the back for the ferals, that way we can take them out and use them in tent / van.

Re: 2005 factory 6 stacker radio help

If you are looking at ebay, search for the keywords Toyota MP3. That should get you the most recent versions from the last few years which will bolt right in without mods. There are narrower units that fits older toyotas like the 90 series. There are also units specfically for current model Camrys and Aurions and they obviously are of a different shape.

Alternative that will do the rest of what you want is the Dig options TP09X1. See the existing thread on this.
