Hi all

wondering what people are getting out of there rotors. In particular the front rotors. Just had mine in for service and complained about the vibration coming through the pedal. Mechanic tested rotors and said there was less than 0.2mm left once they machined them. They would need replacing in the next cuplla months. I opted to have them replaced while the car was on the hoist with some DBA rotors. But the originals only lasted 40000 K ... I used to complain when I had to replace an Astra's rotor's every 45000Km's. I live in the hills so have quite a few steep hills that need brakes on for a full stop at the bottom. But 40000Km's seems a bit short lifed to me ?

Not happy !!!

I replaced mine at 130000km's with DBA slotted ones, after having been machined once at 74000.
I too was getting the vibration through the pedal but I couldn't be bothered having the rotors machined a second time so I just bought new ones and fitted them myself.
All good now.
In answer to your question, I reckon 40000k'ms is way too short a time to have to replace them.

On my old 03 petrol GXL I replaced all the disks once in 6 years and 257,000K. I only replaced all the pads twice. She was a great unit, totally reliable, never a problem, and I wish I had not sold her and bought the 09 model!

....I just had 4 cuts on my front rotors to get em flat, toyota pads had bedded deep. They still have deep scoring on them.

First and last time I can get em cut back, so will have to replace them on the next pad change.

Not happy, rubbish rotors ! Any suggestions on something better ?
