  • Suspension bushes

I'm starting to collect many bits and pieces to do a hole bunch of work on the suspension of the prado
My plan is to do all suspension bushes along with the ball joints up the front.

I've still to decide if I'm going to stay with stock rubber bushes (probably lots of dollars) or go with nolathane/superpro
and wondered if anyone has replaced all of theirs with none OEM and if they found any probs after the work such as ride, bushes wearing quickly, broken bits caused by using non OEM bushes, etc

I've done a search and found a some info talking about nolathane panhard rod bushes wearing quickly and some talking about losing some suspension flex with non OEM bushes fitted, which doesn't worry me too much as we don't do as much hard off roading any more, but nothing definitive.

    cheers

    Re: Suspension bushes

I've replaced all my rear ones with Nolathane.

The Panhard ones are fine they improved handling and didn't have any effect on my travel, but the upper and lower control arms made me wish I'd stuck with rubber, they made the ride harsh, and they did ruin my flex.

      Re: Suspension bushes

I replaced my steering rack bushes with nolathane ones, Recomend this. I also replaced front sway bar bushes with Nolathane while i was at it, this was a bad move as it seems to made the front of the car stiffer and has reduced wheel travel. ill Swap them out for some rubber ones soon.

        Re: Suspension bushes

I had all the bushes (except rear trailing arm bushes) replace with nolathane ones and they made a great difference in the handling of the Prado.

The nolathane lower control arms went in today and wow it feels like I'm driving a new car.

Will put them to the test this Saturday when I go offroad....right now, very happy with them.

          Re: Suspension bushes

I've done the checking and there is a fair price difference between OEM and non OEM bushes
Superpro supply a kit for everything while Nolathane miss out on a few.
The prices for superpro seam to be on par with nolathane but from all reports and ringing a few places the superpro are the better bush to go with performance wise as they are closer to OEM than nolathane, but nolathane are more widely available (ie - more stores stock or can get hold of them)

I've got nolathane bushes in the rack at the moment and have to agree it is a good move.

I'm most likely to go with superpro as it means i can get the whole cars worth at the one time instead of shopping around to get what I need.
