  • help with intercooler removal please.

    Hi,
I am due to check the valve clearances on my 120 series prado, I have done this a few times with non turbo & non intercooled diesels on previous hilux's but am a bit concerned about the intercooler removal & turbo setup..
Can anyone advise if there is anything to be carefull of in removing thie intercooler?? any gaskets required to reinstall??

    any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jeff

Strathpine Toyota have informed me that the fuel lines to the injectors need to be replaced when doing the valve adjustments, and as such they don't check them at the 50k service (or maybe it was the 40k) due to the expense. I have yet to push this but there are threads about valves.

don't have anything close to the supply hoses. (as in don't drop anything down there)
put clothes in hoses once the cooler is removed.
this will also help with keeping dirt or sand that could be flying around at the wrong time.
from memory (and that isn't the best these days), you just loosen hose clamps to cooler, undo the bolts and cooler is off.
to check clearances properly, this job is an overnight job.
customers would drop these vehicles off the afternoon before and we would park in our bays/hoists.
these jobs would be the first job of the day, as they needed to be stone cold to get correct numbers.
most vehicles were found to be close enough or within specs to not warrant adjustment.
