  • My dual battery install.

Had a go at doing my own dual battery install.
I got some 2G cable from Jaycar that is probably over kill but I have never believed in doing things by halves.
The tray is a Piranha and was quite easy to fit.

I used the standard Redarc Isolator which may not ever charge the aux battery fully, but thats not a real concern at the moment...keeping the handbrake happy is LOL
Here are a few pics of the install so far, this was a trial fit to get all the cables the right length and the ends terminated, battery tray and the isolator mount made.
I will post some more pics soon as I have now enclosed all the cables in split tube and heat shrunk all the ends.

    The SSB battery fitted

    Cables run

Curious as to why you haven't used any split tubing on your battery cables for protection and also noticed that there is no heat shrink over your cable lugs... ?

Maybe its the photo - but it looks like on of the lugs on the isolator is fairly close to the body, a loose connection there could cause some issues...

      Hey Matt..
I did say in my first post that I have now put the cables in split tube and heat shrunk the ends.
I have also put rubber boots on the ends off the terminations.
As far as the distance between the isolator and the body goes there is about 40mm, i think the image might be a bit deceiving.

      Cheers

Must have skipped over that bit in my eagerness to checkout the photos... Oops!

Looks the business! Have any of the finished photos?

Nice job Homer. Really like the bracket you have the isolator mounted on. Might have to steal your idea  .
