  • Cam Shaft Seal

    Hi,
I am replacing my timing belt and have also replaced my cam shaft seal as it was leaking, when putting in the new the seal I am concerned I may have put it to far, in my manual there is no indication of how far it needs to go in.

can any point me in the right direction?

    its a 1KZ TE motor

    Cheers

flush with the head is normally the go, but if its done some kays, a couple of mm's max inside this shouldn't be an issue as there would be a little groove worn from the old seal most likely and therfor running the seal on a slightly different part of the shaft is actually a good thing, the most important thing is that the seal is square.

    how far 'inn' is yours?

it's about four to five mm in from the timing belt backing plate.

have taken the plunge and fit the timing belt, kicked the motor over asnd all seems to be OK

have had a look down the oil filler point and could see the seal, no contact with anything.

here's to hoping all is well
