  • New Chip-It chip for 150 series

I just received my new and improved chip. The main difference being the chip no longer requires it's own 12 volt power supply. It gets its power from the factory fuel sensor. I'm assuming this will also eliminate the starting issue. The new harness also has ferrite chokes on all the plugs which will help keep things stable. The only thing I can whinge about so far is the lack of mounting points on the chips enclosure. Other than that it looks the goods. I'm just waiting for my engine to cool down so I can fit it to the vehicle without burning my hands on the EGR pipe. I'll let you all know how it goes.

EDIT- I have also noticed that new Macro tuning software comes with the Chip. The new Macro screen has 15 tunes to choose from and 2 spare slots for custom tunes. Instead of having 3 folders with 5 tunes in each they are all in one now. The instructions that come with the chip are also much much much better than the previous version. But i'm still waiting for my engine to cool down to see if it works without throwing fault codes

Unfortunately I bought my chip long before a discount was offered. Anyway the chip is fitted to the car and so far so good, no error codes I had a bit of a play around with the software that comes with it and put the chip up to the highest tune (15) and didn't get any 'low fuel pressure' error codes like I did with the last one I had. Which is kind of strange since I haven't installed the fuel limited disk. I'm still undecided if I will put the disk in yet because I'm afraid of doing an injector or the fuel pump even running a lower tune withe disk in will still affect rail pressure. Anyway I have it set to Tune 8 and it goes extremely well. I'm confident it will stay that way.

Now that's a sensible idea. Makes whipping it in and out easier ie before a trip to Mr Toyota for any service / warranty work.
Biggest issue for my 120 ChipIt install was finding and connecting accessory power in the under the dash fusebox.

I've already put about 150 kays on the chip and so far it's been great. I've also noticed that the fuel usage read out isn't telling porky pies anymore. It looks like the boys have done there homework this time around.

Yeah all is fine still and I have put on the EGT monitor. I have also put in the EGR plate and fuel limited disk. The highest Tune my car will accept without a low fuel pressure warning is Tune 9 out of the 15. Which is more then enough I'm going to back mine off to 4 or 5 I think.

The disk will not affect injectors Barry. The fuel limiter mod stops the factory limiter from opening (the limiter is not there to protect the fuel system is it is 1) rated to higher pressures than the CR spill valves can ever supply 2) the limiter is there only to stop people like us from getting a higher tune out of the engine ... A little like chicken and the fox. They put hurdles up, we find solutions

Also, the higher the pressure the injectors have the better the fuel atomisation.

However you are right, if ur limiter from factory is not opening up then it has a retty good spring in there ... so why change it!

You would only have to do this mod IF your spring is below the norm and is opening up with only a lower level tune.

                      Hope this helps

                      Cheers
