  • Trailer Indicators - Fuse?

    Hi There,

Does anyone know if there is a fuse for the factory fitted trailer socket indicators?

I have located the relays on the rear LHS and they are ticking, but the indicators don't blink - all other lamps work just fine. :?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Tony
    Cheers,

    Tony

have you opened both the trailer plug and the connection on the car to verify all wires are connected?

            Hi Guys,

Trailer plug wiring is a little tricky as numbers aren’t sequential but pretty hard to get it wrong such that the 2 indicators don’t work but all others do!

This is a Toyota genuine fitted socket, I just replaced the 7-pin round for a 12-pin flat – I guess I’ll have t ask Mr Toyota.

Have you verified that when you replaced the connector that the orientation of the numbering in the picture matched the plug.

Sometimes confusing, depending on the drawing - same are labelled looking at a fitted plug/socket, others are labelled looking at the connections from the termination point of view.

Problem solved - unmarked fuse missing in box, all good now.

                Seems like they never worked!

I am somewhat confused as to why that unmarked fuse controls trailer indicator, you would think someone would have marked this when installing. Had same problem today, pulled all the covers back to trace wiring only to find that damn fuse was missing.

Not sure if Mr Toyota charges for the "service" of installing the (secret) fuse, but see here (bottom RHS red 10A next to 30A Green one):

Same thing happened to me. I ended up taking it to a sparky. Took him 45 minutes to trace it back to the main fuse box. Never had a trailer that runs off an independent fuse before.

Actually it’s a good practice, that way if your trailer has a fault the only fuse that blows is the “independent” one!

Separate relays are to control the flash rate, which is related to the amps pulled through them, so if all lamps were in parallel (vehicle + trailer) the flash rate would be faster!

Out of interest, what size fuse did your auto electrician put in?

                          Cheers,

I do have the same issue. However the fuse you are talking about is there. My lights and break works but no indicators.
                              Any other sugestions?
