as my friend said you have to reuse the both the engine and transmission mounts. as the engine in the hilux sits higher and further forward than the Prado. I retained the hilux engine mounts as my 1kz mounts were shot. so as a result the engine is about an inch too high so i had to modify the scoop to fit the engine cover properly (tidious)

also ive noticed that there is an brace from the engine block to the tranny at the bottom of the engine. the 1kz does not come with this..so maybe if you are using the prado engine mounts you may have to remove these braces as they may touch the front diff.

when using the prado tranny mount you will have to slot out the top where the bolt holes are because the hilux tranny bolt holes are slightly taller. but this is a must as the hilux tranny mounts causes the tranny to sit too high causing it to touch the top of the tunnel.

so once you get that out of the way she bolts in just fine.

rear drive shaft also has to be lengthened about 4" and front
shortened about 2"

also the prado shifter is linkage and the hilux is cable. so i bolted the hilux shifter in the position of the old shifter and routed the cable through the hole to the front of the shifter in the tunnel and attached it to the bracket on the tranny.

Disclaimer - I STRONGLY DONT RECOMMEND THIS CONVERSION IF YOU DONT HAVE THE ENTIRE HARNESS FROM THE DONER VEHICLE.

which brings me to wiring

wiring was a bit tidious..not to get the engine working but to adapt the prados controls to the hilux harness.

yes i completely ripped out the entire prado harness leaving only the rear harness intact because the 2 things the prado had that the hilux didnt were a rear diff locker and a rear wiper.

i took this opportunity to repaint the engine bay and clean up the interior
