Well last Sunday we made a day of it and headed off to Gordon Country (see Rogerthatv2's Trip report from Feb) for a bit of a Recce. Met up with my brother in law (90 series) and headed off to some Tracks. What a great day!!! Currently I'm pretty limited to what I can do in the Prado off road due to the "very" low front end, a result of having a sahara bar and winch hanging off the front. This presently reduces the clearance under the front something shocking and my ramp over angle leaves a lot to be desired also. With the wife and kids in the car, this gave me a good opportunity to milk (i mean) demonstrate to SWMBO the necessity for some upgrades, ensuring that some of the more challenging stuff that we were all keen to do, "would probably be unwise to attempt until I get a decent lift dear".
"oh well how much will that cost?, can we afford it now so we can come back?" .
"Yes dear" (hehehe......). After a few creek crossings, we managed (not intentionally) to collect a few river rocks/small boulders under the car, with my brother in law clearing these in his 90 series without any trouble. "you know dear, there is this guy in SA who is making and selling these great Bash plates at a great price, and along with the lift, you wont have to worry about anymore damage to the underneath of your car".
"Oh well put them on the list too"
"Yes dear" (hehehe....)
RockSliders???? well I might not push it for the moment, but now that I have "authority to preceed", I just need to rob a bank to expedite before the missus changes her mind. (probably have to wait for Mr Swan to give me some of my money back this July in reality). Also, my 9" DVD headrests arrived yesterday so they will go in this weekend together with the AVN11TP Navi system & reverseing cam from DigOptions.
Can't wait!
