    Hi
Have just upgraded my 2003 4.0v6 prado with bilstein shocks and lovells springs(50mm lift)....at Autoride suspension in Balcatta...very happy with the work done there.
Also fitted Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 265/70/r17....they look and perform great!!...first test at Lake Navarino, Waroona after 35mm rain.
I am after some advice on a winch...i am leaning towards the Tigerz11 12000 pound winch after the reviews i have read....but have purchased a winch cradle to suit the sovereign bar i have.....am wondering if anyone has any experiences fitting this winch to the said bar and cradle???
2003 120 GXL, 4.0V6, Snorkel, Sovereign Bar, Dual Batteries, Bilstein/Lovells 50mm Lift, PolyAir Bags, MickeyT MTZ 265/70/R17.

alot of us here have used the genuine winch cradle to mount winch's.
reasonably easy job to do. just need a couple of mates to help you lift everything back ON
to make it easy to bolt back onto prado.
    welcome to PP

Thanks for the advice Damonat...I was thinking i'd hire an engine hoist to lift the bar, cradle and winch.

Hey Fluffychaos, How much did you pay for your bils / lovells. I am looking at a similar setup at the moment and want to get a feel for the price in Perth

Hi Yowie, the complete set-up which included bilstein/lovells and Polyair airbags in the rear, all fitted together $2300 ($1875 without the polyair) - Arnie at Autoride Suspensions, Balcatta

Good luck trying to get a cradle for a Sovereign bar from Toyota, I couldn't, they (the local Stealership) told me there was none Australia wide.

And I think the crowd that made the bars has gone broke. They had plenty of way overpriced fairleads though. LOL

Can't supply parts for a car two years out of manufacture - woeful.

Very interesting, I tried about a month ago the local Stealership parts department told me that none were available Australia wide. They are taking my bar off next week to do the mounting upgrade, that;s why I was looking into it. I'll see what they say tomorrow when I tell them other people can get them. The fairlead was a sticking point though, they wanted $400 for it alone. Did you buy a fairlead Fluffy, if so how much did they sting you?

I tried a few toyota dealers who said the same thing....none available...I tried wreckers also who told me they dont exist (I told him how much he knew). I didn't give up, just kept calling all the different toyota dealers and eventually found one(old stock)!! I am purchasing a Tigerz11 winch with dyneema rope and alloy hawse supplied(offset hawse).

good idea with the engine hoist to fit your bar.

thanks to an upgrade with Toyota spare parts, dealers now can only see 1 warehouses stock.
thats not to say that there is/isn't stock at the other warehouses, but the dealers have no idea as to an ETA.
not much of an upgrade. maybe good for Toyota, but not customers.
Aust Toyota accessories are made here in Aust. due to the demand of the "fix" to the Sov bar, i think they under estimated
how many were out there and with cradles, so were/are a bit slow to supply.
dealers can check with other dealerships for cradles. alot of the big places have them in stock for the "fix".

Well in that case doing their business and spare parts stock turnover a lot of good having plenty of fairleads in stock and no cradles, maybe I should nominate my local Toyota spare parts manager for business person of the year? Makes no sense to me at all. As for supporting the customer and their product, not reallly happening is it.

Actually sounds like my workplace, di@kheads in Canberra screwing up perfectly good systems that have worked faultlessly for years. Maybe I need a holiday or a Lotto win.

Well....after being a bit over excited in some large silty puddles and ruining the idler and tensioner bearings....i have successfully fixed them....idlers(complete pulley)-$33 each at veale's, and tensioner bearing $30 at Peel Bearings, also bought a cheapy workshop press for the job at supercheap...6Tonne $89!....No more ugly grinding sound and much cheaper than toyota 'stealership' haha

They were available here at the Penrith dealership a couple of months ago when I had the bracket recall done. They rang and asked me if I needed the cradle, (they forgot to ask me when I booke it in) I was trying to achieve one FOC but didnt happen lol, but they did have them in stock. Regards Steve

                            Prado winch cradle.

If they are telling you there are no winch cradles around then they are looking at the wrong part. The cradles used before the bullbar bracket recall are no longer available. The cradles that suit the new bullbar brackets are everywhere.

The part number you need for the new winch cradle is PZQ29602WC and I just bought one from Brighton Toyota for $201.30 inc GST. Some dealers quoted me up to $285 for the same part so ring around.

If you do not have the new bullbar mounts fitted just ring Toyota and they will change them over for free (recall).

Hi, you can buy this set up on line for $1289 + another $35 odd dollars for the rear shock stone guards (highly recommended. It all arrived 2 days later.

                              http://www.4wddirect.com.au/scart/html/685.html

You and a mate can fit yourselves if you have a 2t car jack, some axle stands, ring spanners and sockets. Should take around 2 hrs if you are mechanical and up to four if you are not. You will also need some spring compressors if you want to fit the front shocks to the springs or head down to the local suspension place and they will do it for you.

I started to do them and saw the spring compressors start to bend. The new lovells are nearly twice as thick as the original Toyota springs so I went down to Bilsteins in Berwick and they changed them over for $50. They mentioned something about 600 pound of pressure and that was enough for me. .

Bit of a pain getting the front springs out from the lower control arms but nothing a little brute force won't fix.

                              Nice lift and good ride,
