  • Redarc Tow Pro

    Hi all,

I've been anxiously waiting for Redarc's new brake controller and saw this today. A remote Inertia and manual control setup, is just what I have been waiting for, as the lack of safe space to mount my P3 was a concern.

Anyway, take a look and let's get some discussion going. BTW, I have no affiliation or have any financial gain from Redarc for posting this.

    Cheers
    Geoff

Looks the goods. Be interested in any feedback once someone has installed.

What's wrong with mounting the P3 in the ash tray?

I was initially sceptical but on reading the manual - I like it!

Wish it was available when I put my Red-Arc remote head in, Im always fiddling with the dial on the manual mode of my unit...
          Cheers

Another reason to stick with a 120

I was going to do that, but given the neat appearance, the Redarc option seems better and that frees up the said ashtray slot for other options. This is important because I have no available spots left. The downside of a Grande and a few mods......

We are going away for the long weekend and the first time towing the camper for longer than a quick test, so I may be ordering one next week if the P3 can't keep away from my knee.

I like the Teconsha units (especially because I can use one unit in multiple tow vehicles) but not the location they have to be in a 150, I like the ease of fitment and neatness of the Redarc preset unit but this looks to be the best of both. From memory there is enough space behind the diff lock button/low high select button on the transmission tunnel for the unit

and the remote can go into one of the space switch slots on the left of the steering column.

Unfortunately, one of the few drawbacks of the Kakadu means there is bugger all spare spots to mount/install extras, but I have an idea which is workable.

The Kakadu has a switch assembly where I put my battery monitor but there is still a fair amount of space behind there. There are also switch blanks beneath the reversing sensor isolation switch so that is where I will put the remote.

I do like my P3 as it gives me other info via the LCD. Battery volts, trailer brake current and the ability to set up for various loads makes it more versatile than what this one appears IMO.

I emailed the Redarc company. The reply was that the new Tow Pro unit can be fitted to the same wiring, so long as the initial wiring was fitted by an auto-electrician, and the new unit is also fitted by an auto-elect. Suppose that is to cover warranty issues.

I will have one fitted in the near future to replace my older push button/turn the knob unit.

On ebay for $275. Wish they had developed it before I did so much work to mount my P3 in the cupholder!
