  • DIY Rear Drawers

Firstly, thanks to all those generous members on PP for sharing their wisdom on DIY drawer builds. I've finally finished a set of drawers for the 150. You do save a few $$'s, but you need plenty of time and patience for researching, designing & sourcing materials etc. Overall pretty happy with end result. Next step is to install cargo barrier (thinking of getting a custom half fitting) and hard wiring fridge power cable into the bain fuse box (which sits down the left-hand side). For those keen to embark on a similar project I've posted a few pics.

              Cheers.

Still debating how I'm going to finish off all the little details around the wheel arches and etc...
And how I'm going to mount my 2nd battery - it will sit at the back of the RH drawer, hunkered down nice and low.

Just waiting for my slides and locking mechanisms to arrive (hopefully before the long weekend...)

I find Bunnings has much carpet to choose from. I bought 2 metres of their "Ideal DIY 2m Econo Ribbed Charcoal Utility Carpet"

But HERE are many many other choices

Take a peek HERE for some progress. Unfortunately, my slides wont arrive till today.

Have you found that there is extra road noise, and what I think is the sound of diesel rolling around the tanks, now that the seats are gone?

Taycat, excellent job and you have made me jealous and wanting to complete a set myself. Would have and be willing to offer up some of the dimension you used. I am wanting to make out of tubing and Aluminum sheeting and carpet over the top.
                        Thanks and great job.

The drawers are 840 deep, 450 wide and 220 high (right-hand drawer slightly smaller due to fridge slide allowance. Hope this helps. Look forward to seeing some progress pics.

Is there any reason besides aesthetics that people use carpet as opposed to a rubberised layer on top?

Cheers for the pics, very motivating... Now I need to find some plans 8)
