Nothing missing from photo 1. Compartment is empty. Second photo appears to be missing screwdriver, spanner and (hard to tell from the photo) but a screw missing from one of the extension bars and a screw from the right angled jacking bar

Ok thanks mate, that empty compartment has velcro straps in there so I wondered what was meant to be there or maybe they were put in after delivery

Those straps are there from stock if they are the ones with the little buckles on them. Very handy, I use them to stop my 1/4 socket set from moving around

If you have a diesel you won't have the spark plug spanner

I have tools missing as well - but would never rely on the simplistic tool kit provided by Toyota.

Like most I have a real tool box which I made up myself - includes sockets, torque wrench, 3 sets of pliers, a range of screw drivers set of Sidchrome spanners, a REAL hydraulic jack fuses, cable ties, gaffer tape etc etc and a small axe. My first aid kit has also been specially compiled.

When I bought my 2015 GXL I too noticed the gaps in the tool holder and rang up the dealer making accusations that someone from the yard had taken the items and I wanted them replaced. At the end of the call I had a red face as I was told the items missing were the norm for the GX and GXL models but were included for the VX.

When I purchased my 2009 Kakadu there was 1 spanner, the screwdriver, and (I think) the pliers were missing. Fixed that by grabbing the ones from the 2002 90 Series I traded in, dealer was fine with that. I was told those items were not included from new and the spark plug tool was also not supplied (I have the V6). I can't be 100% certain though as I bought it as a used vehicle.

I bought my 2010 GX diesel secondhand, it came with pliers, screwdriver and double ended spanner.

Hi Kade, if you are not going to setup with an auxiliary tool kit, you need the 8mmx10mm open end to change a spare, the cover held on with a hex stud. I would have thought an easier way would have evolved from Toyota, but no.

Just picked up my new GXL Prado last week and before I had the chance to ask about the missing tools the dealer told me the empty spots were just spare spaces for adding tools of your own.
