I have been reading this forum for a while and it's a source of a lot of great information. It'd be good to have a Prado Point guide to everything that's a summary of all the good info. The first one that I thought would be a PradoPoint Service Checklist for each Service. Ie a Booklet that has all the extra things a Prado owner needs to ask for/check or do in addition to each scheduled service for example. Maybe a series of these could be developed and sold to fund the website. Just a thought.

If you charge for it then all sorts of legal problems arise I would think.
I do think that a list like that would generate a lot of traffic for the website which would generate income.
If there was a thread headed up something like "How to Service a Prado" then each topic was listed either as "What to check at 10K service" What to check at 20K service or "How to change oil" "How to check brakes" etc then the bots would find all that and if someone runs a search through Google etc then it will show PP
####### has put up a lot of stuff like that already, click on his name then his posts and have a read when you have a lot of spare time

As far as parts & replacing here is what i would recommend on a 1kd-ftv
The usual checks & inspects apply, unless stated otherwise.
0k put 7mm plate in.
Every 5k change engine oil.
Every 10k oil & filter & full diagnostic to check injectors, check/change air filter if used in dusty conditions.
Every 20k rear fuel filter, rear diff oil if LSD, lubricate driveline.
Every 30k air filter, more often if dusty. Clean maf sensor.
Every 40k brake/clutch fluid, f&r diff, oils change, under bonnet fuel filter change.
Every 50k auto trans flush first time at 100k, then every 50k.
Every 100k transfer case oil change, auto fluid flush, first at 100k, then every 50k.
Every 120k replace injectors, check valve clearances for first time, confirm ok for another 120k.
Every 150k timing belt change.
Every 160k coolant flush first at 160 or 6 years, then every 80k or 2 years. Replace map filter.
Every 200k drive belt change.
Every 250k front wheel bearings, if they make it.
Every 300k add tensioner & idler pulley to timing belt job.
Will update the things I forgot as I remember.
Cheers,

Can I add a check of suspension bushes every service, particularly for those of us that use it off-road. Also check tension on bar work mounting bolts (they have a nasty habit of rattling loose) and visually check inner guards every service, best to catch those cracks early if they are going to make an appearance. Also it might seem stupid but don't forget to check the tyre pressure of the spare, especially those of us who don't rotate it through and have it hidden under the cover. Just a few silly things that I see often overlooked on "new" vehicles.Silver 150 Facelift
TJM Bullbar, Lightforce Genisis Spots, Dual Battery System with bits from everyone, Powerful 4x4 slider/steps, Kaymar rear bar, "Genuine" Roof Racks, MSA Seatcovers, Dashmat, Tint, LED Interior Globes, Bridgestone D697s

Are you having a lot of issues with bushes? Which ones? Would you mind putting some nice pics up?
Maybe we need a bush thread?
Always pay attention to the aftermarket items nuts & bolts like bullbar, it's usually the add ons that come or got left loose.
Cheers.

Not really having a lot of issues with bushes, just the normal flogged out front strut lower bushes from overloaded work utes. Also see the odd one or two flogged out shockie bushes, usually the uppers. Not Prado specific, just vehicle driving on our shitty roads specific.
I see way to much aftermarket added equipment held on with loose bolts. Bullbars are common, as are u-bolts on leaf sprung vehicles that have been lifted.
I know these are checks that should be done, but all too often they become part of the "tick and flick" environment of servicing we seem to be experiencing more and more often. Also the use of loctite or similar does not mean it won't come loose, it just makes certain things feel tight even if they are not (stretched u-bolts, trailer hitch mounting bolts, etc.)Silver 150 Facelift

Extensive idling and or low speed driving for long distances, such as taxis, couriers etc
Continuous high speed driving (at speeds over 140km/hr) for over 2 hrs
Using fuel from above ground tanks
Note: Section 2 Warranty & Service Booklet:
Oil thickening
Oil thickening is a phenomenon which occurs when particles of unburnt fuel and combustion by-products cause a build up of carbon (soot) in the engine oil forming a jelly type substance. It can cause serious engine damage through oil starvation. It is essential that the engine oil is changed according to the maintenance schedule at either the time or distance specified.
I change the oil filter at 5,000km as I'm changing the engine oil, as I usually drive under adverse conditions, so I do what the schedule indicates, and that's change the oil filter as well....and it might just help prevent or reduce the "oil thickening" issue that some folk experience, hopefully the injector seats are now ok, but even if they leak at some stage, by inspecting the oil pickup at regular intervals I should hopefully avoid the clogged oil pickup issue some have seen with other models.
Toyota don't specify the auto transmission fluid interval under normal conditions, but I'd agree with #### also, and change at say 50,000km. I'm not intending on replacing injectors at 120K, but rather monitor injector feedback values and make a decision. I got almost 250,000km with my previous D4D Prado, and had the injector feedback monitored by my diesel fitter, and values remained nicely within spec thankfully.SE Qld: GX 150GD Auto, (Feb'16 build): TJM T15 steel b bar, 9,500lb TORQ winch, TJM s steps, Rhino Pioneer Platform (42102B 1928X1236mm), front recovery points, Wynnum towbar, P3 brake controller, TNN Underbody guards, UHF, TREKtable & LED striplight, Custom Fridge & Drawers, Waeco CFX50, 9inch illuminator 160W LED spots, 40mm lifted Dobinson Suspension (Zordo's), ScanguageII, 30 Sec Wing Awning

Just for information though, the online manuals aren't available as yet for the new GD Prado, so I've summarised the service booklet. I personally use a spreadsheet where I can track all the service items, because it takes a little bit of effort to refer to all sections of the service booklet, especially the additional service requirements, which are tucked in the back of the booklet, and you have to work out which bits apply to the diesel, which bits apply to the petrol, and which bits apply to the auto or manual...its not hard, just takes a bit of wading through the tables...so I just have made a single spreadsheet/table so its makes it easy and quick for my model to see what needs doing and when..with some additional items like auto fluid and transmission fluid etc
