  • Wet drivers seat belt

So I got in the car this morning, pulled my seatbelt out and it was quite damp/wet. We had a bit of rain in Melbourne last night, but nothing particularly special.

Somehow moisture has got into where the retention wheel is located. I'm not sure where from or how to fix it???

I do run a full length roof tray (professionally fitted) and can only think that the moisture has got into the car where the tray brackets connect to the car.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Yak

You're looking in the right area, it'll be coming in from the roofrack mounting points.

it'll be coming in from the roofrack mounting points. Take the bolts out put silastic in the holes and put the bolts back in.

Often it is the light rain that finds it's way in rather than heavy. From memory you will need to remove or loosen the plastic trim on the inside of the B pillar so the air can get at the belt plus extend the belt fully and secure the buckle in the extended position. Then park the car in the sunshine (may have to wait until Monday in Melbourne for that)
          Cheers

Thanks very much. I'll get the silastic in there once it's all dried out.

How did you go with this. I have the same issue after the first decent rains here since I bought it earlier this year. Passenger side only.

After the recent heavy rain I found water under the drivers seat and rear footwell . I removed the drivers and rear passenger seats and lifted the carpet which took ages to dry out using a heat gun . I pulled the roof rack rails off and found no sealant had been used on the mounting bolts . Since I don't intend to use the rack any more the original rails are going back on with sealant. The aluminium rack is for sale cheap .
Send me a PM if interested . Cheers Ross
