  • Fog light replacement in an ARB bullbar

So today I cracked a lens of one of the fog/spot lights in my ARB bullbar. Apparently cold water and a hot lens do not mix (though I have heard that the newer ARB bullbars are fine as ARB have sourced new lights from a new manufacturer a couple of years ago). Anyway has anyone replaced these lights with aftermarket jobs or just stuck with the ARB supplied lights??
    Cheers Ryno

Are you talking about the original IPF fog lights that ARB V1 bars came with?
The V2 from my understanding had plastic lenses.

Yep you got me. My car is 2011 and I am assuming the bar was fitted then too. I bought the car with the bar fitted and I have not had a close look at the lights. I will have to have a look tomorrow.

I just fitted these to my ARB bar
they are a WORK LIGHT not a fog light...works well 4x4ing at night

Mine is the old style with the steel frame backing....lots of grinding (die grinder..no heat)to the lights and the light surround to make them fit then welded the mounting bracket the the frame
          Cheers

Found a random ARB specific fog light replacement on eBay last night.. Just wondering if anyone has tried these? A little more expensive than the standard led work light modification. Would love to hear a review prior to purchase.

My only concern with these is that the DRL function only turns off when the fog lights are lit, not when low beam is lit, which I believe is the legal requirement.

A bit late now i know however the DRL function will turn of when your parkers are turned on. Another option is to wire your DRL positive up to the fog light positive so both will come on.

Personal opinion but DRL is a bit of a wanker factor

DRL in fog will be a blinding reflection. Bad idea.

Disagree, daytime lights have been on motorcycles for years. Running a light during the day definitely helps with seeing a oncoming vehicle, especially on a overcast day... not a wanker factor at all !

I don't know why you can't turn the headlight on a bit like my basic GX being on permanently, no wank value in that.
As for running fogs all the time that does have a certain wank value.
I lived for 30 years in the Blu Mts and experience fog often and can attest to the value of good old yellow hella fogs for safety and vision. The factory fogs on the Prados ive own have been useless.

I encountered some of that Blue Mountains fog during a holiday - really difficult. It seems that many modern cars (but not all) have fog lights as window dressing and not for any real power (including Prado 150). Such fog lights are a poor relative to proper fog lights such as Cibie. Fog lights are also very useful when driving on dark, winding wet roads to give more width and power to the dipped beam. Top quality variable beam LEDs that are emerging on new newer cars probably solve the whole problem.

I notice the Qvee also have an orange fog light coming out soon... That's the one I'm going to wait for.

Surprising I can't find a simple amber cover to put over the ARB Fog lights - I thought there'd be a fair number of choices for that?
