  • Electronic module to block EGR?

Have done a search but couldn't find a thread on this.

A mate has purchased one of these for his Pajero and sent me the infor for the Hilux/Prado version. It's an electronic module that plugs in a turns of the EGR all together.

    Anyone installed one? Any opoinions?

Just want some independant info before I call them.

    Thanks

            $360 maybe a bit dear

But whats the cost for an expert to clean egr system, also think how much cleaner the oil and inside of the engine will be without all that soot being ingested.

Just remember it wont clean a dirty system ----- just stop a clean one or a new one getting dirty
Maybe a group buy could be initiated.

            Cheers

Ill give them a call tomorrow and get some more info and if they are convincing enough I might even buy one and/or talk about a group buy.

I would worry that it is doing what they say it is. You will not find out to way down the track. Much better to go with the blanking plate.

All I can think of is to measure the EGR Valve voltage & see when it is actuated. It should only happen when throttle is off.

The module arrived yesterday. I have not installed yet as the car is mainly used by my wife, and if it throws an error code whilst she is driving i wont hear the end of it. I will install on the weekend and see what happens.

The unit plugs into the MAF sensor, i dont know how clever it is, it appears similar to a unit that i have on my colorado (isuzu) which is simply a resistor that makes the computer think the intake air temp is about 1 degree and there is a protocol that keeps egr closed at these temps.

I hope you are not saying they are charging around $350 for a resistor in a fancy box.
