    Hi all, i've done endless searches with some useful information but not 100% my issue.

    I have a 2013 GXL Prado, turbo diesel, auto, i was driving it on the weekend with no issues then got home, left it in the garage for about 2 hours went to start the car and it wont fire.

    Had RAC out and they weren't that helpful.

    Scenario:

    Push button, orange light radio comes on.
    Push button again, orange light accessories come on
    Depress foot brake, light goes green
    Push button and engine begins to crank just like normal

    From here the engine just continues to crank but not fire.

    Thoughts:

    Fuel, possibly the changeover pump between the two tanks has failed therefore empties the main tank and not allowing fuel to get to the filter. Manually primed filter until primer was hard and was drawing fuel so we can eliminate that.

    Electrical, when RAC came out the scan tool they use didn't pull up any fault codes. When i dropped it to toyota their scan tool can't pick up the computer. For some reason it will not talk to the computer at all. This is very odd.

    There is an integration relay in a control box that apparently has power going in but no power coming out. I couldn't get any more info on this at the moment.

    All fuses seem to be ok.


    Question:

    1. could it be an earth issue?
    2. if the scan tool is not reading the computer could it be an ECU issue?
    3. Could it not be electrical at all and possibly be a blocked filter even though I can manually prime fuel?

    Any other thoughts brains trust?

    RAC scan tool worked and the Toyota one didn't? I would be getting to the bottom of that before looking anywhere else.

      Well the RAC bloke said there are no codes but when i looked at the scan tool when he connected it the screen said error. I've never used a scan tool so don't know the ins and outs.

        Seems weird, as it drove home fine. Thinking........
        Hard from here, any work done on it lately?
        Not much stops these from starting, so it's got no fuel going in.
        There is a main fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet, I suspect it may have shat.
        I have not had to change one yet, but its bolted in. Hard to change, double check that.
        I'm told usually they will throw lots of codes.
        Anyway, could be something silly.

          Had an ARB bullbar and Snorkel fitted during the week last week, drove perfectly fine from the 4wd shop. Also they routed the uhf antenna through the firewall on the passenger side to the drivers footwell area.

          is the main fuse in the large fuse box on the passenger side near the battery? What does this main fuse control? Reason i ask is that everything on the car works (electrical wise) lights, dash, you name it and it will work, just it wont fire.

          I was just thinking could it be something to do with the immobiliser not engaging the fuel pump?

            I also remember the RAC bloke saying there is no pulse at the injectors. What would cause this?

              Don't have a 150, does it give an indication that it has read the key and have you tried a spare key?

              After market immobilizer fitted?

                Hi Leigh yeah mate without the key you wouldn't be able to cycle through the start button, i tried leaving the key out of the car and the car button wouldn't operate so its reading the key. Both have brand new batteries and even tried the spare for good measure.

                Tried locking and unlocking but didn't affect the starting.

                No aftermarket immobilizer just the factory toyota stuff.

                  Do you have a fuel master secondary filter installed. Same symptons. Mechanic bypassed filter and all ok. Mechanic said he does not trust those filters because of the way they seal. No fault codes recorded just would not start.

                    Red flag here, I think ############# may be onto something. Usually when a problem occurs after work, that is the first place to look.

                    Quite a bit of sensitive electrical work, especially running cables through the firewall on the passenger side. Very easy to cause some damage as all the ECU related wires run through there. Have been a few people in the past having problems related to this.
