  • Prado 120 2007 cooler box fridge not getting cold

Hi, new to me 2007 120 Prado. Fridge does not seem to get as cold as others advise it should. Green light is on, Ac is on, rear AC is on, fan appears to be turning.

Main cabin AC is working very well.

    Any pointers please to troubleshoot?

    Thanks

    Simon

Have you dropped a thermometer in there to confirm how cold it is getting?

Rear AC doesn't need to be on for the fridge. A 2007 should turn he AC on front on automatically when it's turned on.
If you open the coolbox lid you will certainly hear the fan. And feel air flowing from it.

Hi, no - not tested the tempo reading, I understand the cooler will take drinks from room temp to cold in about 30 mins. I have 3 bottles water in there - they are not cold. Cool box switch does turn on front AC.

The front wall is cool to touch compared with the other three. I will check for airflow - just how strong should it be?

      Thanks

        Update.

I do not think the coolbox fan is working - when I switch the coolbox power switch on and off I can hear a relay type noise but do not get any air flow from the fan vanes.

How can I test the circuit - is there a procedure to gain access to the fan to replace if that is the culprit.

        Thanks

        Simon

Get a strong light and mirror and look down to make sure nothing is blocking the fan first. ( you might get lucky).

If not.. I'd be checking fuses first, not sure on circuit and location or even if there is a fuse for the fan.
          Bit of looking /research needed.

Otherwise it's a case of pulling the trim apart around the console.
Taking the seats out will make it an easier job. (Only about 5 mins a side to take seats out).

Strip console down to get to the fan to see if it can be replaced.
Don't crack any of the AC lines. Or you'll need to regas.

The fan may be available as a spare part. A look at Japan parts.eu will tell you.
If not it should be readily available thru a electronic store.

Worst case there is a cooler box from a Grande on eBay currently.
