Can I get some feedback on which works best on a Prado. Do they both do exactly the same thing or is one better. I have Techstream and another stand alone scan tool so mainly want it to monitor temps and predominantly fuel usage and trip computer.

Scangauge or Ultragauge.

I have an ultragauge and can't fault it. They are pretty much the same system and it comes down to aesthetics. i have never owned a scangauge though so can't say anything about its use.
The ultragauge is taller with a different screen setup, therefore finding a mounting spot is slightly harder. It is slightly cheaper though (around $160 delivered from the US)
The scangauge is more slimline allowing for steering column mounting without blocking the gauges but has a smaller display.

Download the manuals for both. You can display more info on the Ultragauge (different things) and the display is more configurable. I've got both - the Scanguage is slightly easier to mount for me so I was using it (until the suction cap fell off) - my dad has an Ultragauge and is happy with it.

I was told by the company "Ample Outdoors", (one of the distributors of the Scanguage II in Australia) is closing its doors today (28th April) due to the owner's ill health. They are re-directing folk who are potentially interested in a Scanguage to another Australian Distributor of Scanguage called "Fuel Economy Solutions"
