  • Provent 200 - oil in top hose

I installed a provent 200 catch can a few thousand kms ago.
The filter is spotless, as I would expect after so few kms, but if i put my finger into the top opening that runs back to the valve cover there are traces of engine oil.
Shouldn't the pipes in the outlet side of the can be near spotless?

The inlet should come from the rocker cover.
It may have oil in it.

Doesnt it flow from crank case to rocker cover?
Into the crank case (inlet) pipe from the bottom of the can and out the top pipe to the rocker cover?

the fumes travel from the rocker cover , into the Provent , then out towards the turbo. The Provent wont catch all the oil mist , just a lot of it . If you unscrew the top lid of the provent off with engine running you will see exactly how it works

The top connector on the filter goes to to rocker cover.
          Bottom to the turbo,

The system releases pressure in the crank case, sending it up and into the rocker cover.
Flowing the other way is working against a PCVs purpose, so i cant understand how oil gets into the top pipe from the rocker cover.
If there was some amount of back flow it would make sense. But the provent has a 1 way valve on the bottom inlet.
Could it just be splattering somehow iw working its way up from the rocker against the gas flow?

The pipe going down attaches to the inlet of the turbo not into the crankcase.
The oil fumes come out of the rocker cover and are directed into the the inlet side of the turbo as standard.
So the pipe from rocker cover to inlet at the top of the Provent will be oily and hopefully the outlet pipe from the bottom of the provent to the turbo will be less oily.

                Cheers
