  • What things first?

Hi guys. Have just got a 2006 petrol 6 speed manual with 246000 on the clock. It's been regularly serviced but I can't see anything in the history to show the timing belt was replaced. Should a light come on when it needs replacing?
It had an oil and filter change 1000ks ago. I've ordered a k&n air filter and I'm about to order new denso plugs.
What other things should I do or get done?
I was thinking replace all belts and diff and transfer oils.
What else should I do? I plan on keeping this car for quite awhile.
Just did oil, oil filter, plugs and air filter on my 2004 corolla and fuel economy definitely improved. It has 256000 on it now.
    Thanks

Do all your oils, filters (don't forget cabin filter under the glovebox, mine was full of leaves and dust when I bought it) and belts, check brake pad wear and change fluid, and grease prop shaft. Worth checking the fuel filler hose as they have been known to crack around that age. Then start spending money on all the bits you NEED. An eternally increasing list seems to be usual depending on what you are going to use it for!

No timing belt on the V6. It uses a timing chain.

I heard that amts but wasn't sure, thanks
And thanks hoges it's had regular prop greasing by service papers as well as oil and filter changes. I looked at air filter and it had crap in it so new one is on order. Plus denso plugs. I've replaced diff oil in a hilux and am pretty confident. Can I replace replace all oils or is it a job for a mechanic ?
Brakes are near new as is starter motor.

Underneath. The convoluted rubber hoses between filler and tank and tank and tank. You'll see them easily.

Mine has 260k and they are fine. Others not so lucky.

Some have a lot of fun with the diff plugs........ See this thread for some good tips. http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...iff-Plug/page3
Should be able to do all your oils yourself with a bit of mechanical aptitude and plenty of people here to offer advice if needed.

Thanks piggy, had a look and hoses look and feel fine. Had a look at back diff drain plug hoges and it's a hex head bolt from memory not an Allen key head, if that makes sense

Just re-read the link hoges and see it's the front diff plug that'll be the hard one.
I'm not even sure this has ever been 4wding the underbody is quite clean
