  • Hi Lift jack bracket - 150 GXL

    Hi all,

This is my first post so I hope this is the right forum to ask this question.

I'm trying to find a Hi Lift jack bracket that can be used or modified in some way to fit onto the factory spare wheel holder on a 150 GXL. The 'through the centre of the hub' type are no good because of the camera mounting bracket on the 150 but I'm happy to relocate (or remove) the camera if necessary even if it meant putting on a completely different door mounted wheel carrier.

I have a flat roof rack carrying a roof top tent, 2 jerry cans and 4 max trax so there is no room (or weight capacity) to mount it up there. I've seen brackets to mount it to the bull bar but I don't think it will fit (I have an ARB bar and it may hit the UHF aerial) and would protrude past the front of the bar so I don't think it would be legal anyway (in WA).

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.

leave the high lift off, it will save you 12kg of weight and a lot of heart ache when you damage panels
get your tyre pressures right and stop before you bog yourself right down and just back out
    just my thought's !

Thanks, I've done many trips without it and always done as you suggest with tyre pressures etc (down to 8psi if required) and did consider not taking it on this trip (Ruddall River NP and Canning Stock Route) until the trip organiser asked if I was taking it. I understand re panel damage but it would be good to have as a last resort. Cheers.

Thanks Razorback81 - he doesn't have a hi-lift jack but has a 2nd spare wheel & jerry can steel bar on the back of his LC200 which should accomodate one of the 'through the hub' type of shovel/jack holders. Cheers.

I have seen a setup where two brackets are welded to the end of the towbar which allow the jack to sit horizontly just below the rear door. The jack was wrapped in canvas to protect it from stones and dust.
