  • 2017 GXL driveaway before 31st or wait until 2018 model comes out?

Hi Everyone and thanks for your time,

We are purchasing a brand new GXL prado and at the moment it's $62990 driveaway until 31st October. We are wondering whether we should take this deal or it is best to wait until the 2018 comes on the market as the 2017 models will be reduced even further? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Also does anyone know the discount amount on Prado's when gold fleet is applied?

If it was me, I'd wait a little longer. I would have thought the run out would get cheaper closer to the new one being realised. Not sure what you're getting but I reckon you should be able to do better than $62,990.

Did they give you the price of the new one so that you could compare?

Wait about another 12 months and i'm guessing a new model (180 series) will get released. Same face change occured with the 120 series before the 150 series started.

If the 2017 GXL price was better then it might be worth considering, but I recon that $62,990 is not much of a run out discount, so I'd wait, especially given the DPF issues. There is a chance that the new diesel prado will have "ad blue" so it may not have the DPF white smoke issues..so I'd wait for the new one, but I wouldn't wait 12 months personally for some potential 180 cause it may never happen, who knows, but we do know that a revised 150 should be out any time. Just my thoughts anyway. Let us know how you go.

In Sept 2016 I got a brand new GXL with tow-bar, mats and bonnet protector, in a metallic colour, for around $62K drive away. So no, that's nothing special and it'll be around. I'd wait until the new one is out, then grab one of the old stock then. They'll likely throw in extra's for you to get rid of it.

If that's the advertised price, there is still room to negotiate. Never settle for the sticker price.

My local newspaper had runout 2017 Prado Gxls advertised for 60,990 drive away. They stated only a few left but these included metallic paint. I think a great price would be sub 60k for a 2017 model. This was at Martin Jonkers Toyota caboolture (Northside of Brisbane) Best of luck with it all..

My local dealer has a 2017 wildfire red gxl going for 59990, and is offering the 2018 model for 62990, so it seems you have plenty room to drive down that runout price

                              Hi Rob

The "without KDSS" bit was ignorance on my part - I didn't know that the 150 Series GXL does not offer KDSS as a option at all. I drive a 200 Series GXL diesel, where KDSS is an optional extra, so I just assumed that that this is the same for the GXL. When I asked the salesrep at the yard, they made it sound like the GXL they were selling didn't have it as an "option" - they should have just told me that GXLs do not have KDSS, period.

And this is true even for the GXL and VX spec for the MY18 Prado.
