  • Pradopoint owner Aaron: What is going on with Pradopoint?

    Dear Pradopoint owner Aaron,

As a major technical contributor to Pradopoint over the years, I have been very disappointed over the last year to see this incredible technical resource decaying from within.

One of my most enjoyable experiences of the day has been to peruse the "New Posts" section of Pradopoint. This has been on the blink a lot lately, and subsequently I find my interest waning. I keep hearing things about how it will be fixed, but alas, it remains broken.

I have had many discussions with both old and young members about the Private Messaging system not working. Many members enquiries about the PM system have resulted in frustrated slaps on the wrist by admin, but this is not the fault of admin nor of those members. As I understand it, a single member is responsible for this, who does not wish to follow Pradopoint guidelines. The PM system has been down now for the best part of a year with no feedback from you about why or when/if it shall be reinstalled.

Everyone would just like to know what is going on, admin included.

Could you please engage with the forum members and admin and make it clear for all of us what is going on and what your plans are for Pradopoint going forward?

If you cannot respond to this message and/or if you are no longer interested in engaging with Pradopoint and its members and administrators, could you at least please enlighten us as to why, and offer an alternative ownership/management scheme?

With the interests of Pradopoint and its members at heart.

    Best regards

    Mark

    +1

Agree with the issues of the damaged forum system not repaired in fair time, and the PM being disabled for so long.

Forum members should have communication with the owner of the forum at any time, but especially when there are major issues.

    Cheers.

          Well stated Mark.
Previous statements from admin stating Server Migration and Forum complete software changes being underway do not take this amount of time. I’m sure this statement doesn’t wash with those members who are in the IT industry. With an all time low in forum activity and failure to deliver on promises to financial members including those involved in the PP Calendar-Gate debacle, I find it hard to see it being a financial issue with the income derived from the advertising being splashed in our faces on every page for us non-financial members ( for the past month or so I have been the 1,000,000th visitor to this site? No joke! Apparently.....) This all becomes a hard pill to swallow. I used to find myself proudly spruiking about this forum, and over the years, having introduced many new members to the forum (albeit just to get hold of TraxRax in some cases) but unfortunately as it currently stands, I find that very hard to do and more and more members I speak to are dropping off due to the lack of forum maintenance. I fear that PradoPoint has a real battle on its hands with Facebook groups now being the go to place for Prado talk and the current state of the forum has given members an excuse to move away from this site. This forum is still the best site on the planet for technical advice and information on all things Prado with such a vast database of information that at present, can barely be accessed due to the current database search being unavailable.

As requested, Aaron, as a long term and (hopefully) respected member of Pradopoint, I myself respectfully request that you please provide an update to members on the timeline of these fixes and updates and your future intentions with the Forum

          Regards

As a paid member of this business/forum, I still receive advertising. Membership was paid several months ago and I have made a few attempts to get contact for a refund and I received no response.

Yes this forum is a business which gets paid for advertising and from members but does not deliver the services promised or give the opportunity to receive a refund for non delivery.

Please contact me within seven days to arrange a refund of membership payment.

I note that the new posts and other related search functions are back up and working.

Thanks for asking the question(s) Mark. I am a relatively new member and I was excited to find this forum. I have learned many valuable things about my 150 from many amazing members of PP. My truck is already garnished with sweetness provided by people like Tin, LeighW and Whitey.
However, in the last few months I have realised that this place is dying. Lately, I cannot even use the search function. Sad and extremely frustrating. Enough for me to not want to visit very often. Be nice to know if there is a future for PP.

                  Dear Aaron,

You haven't responded to my questions, and Pradopoint remains on the blink.

Whatever your life situation is, it is not an excuse to justify your indifference towards Pradopoint.

Piggy, please don't moderate my comments here.

Nothing personal Aaron, as I don't know you, but I find your lack of engagement reprehensible and thoroughly undeserving for all of the many worldwide members of Pradopoint.

I won't be posting again on Pradopoint, a sad thing for me to say, but alas like many of the knowledgeable members before my time, I will leave with great memories of my time spent here.

Anyone who needs to contact me, please find me at [email protected].

Thanks for the good times Pradopoint members!

                  Best

I'm over it. Forums (fora) are supposedly a dying breed because of farsebook. This place was kept going by input from talented members like Mark and the support of mods. Well looks like admin is disinterested and Mark who toiled mightily to bring the best suspension products ever to the members has had enough and gone. All that research and sweat. And injury but he didn't let on the toll the revalving took.

I will try a few more times but if the forum isn't fixed in the next week that will be it.

Wow. For me, a short but exciting journey. So much was gained in such a short time. What a complete waste though. Agh...to see long time members leaving because of one guy. Seriously...Aaron, step up mate. FFS. Hand it over if your not interested.

                          Hi Aaron,

While i dont have thousands of posts here, i've learned so much about my Prado and really enjoy logging on here checking the latest posts and reading about peoples mods and adventures. This is a great forum and it's a shame seeing it decline over technical issues that are likely easy to resolve.

I installed my first vBulletin forum back in 2001, and have coded plugins, themes, upgraded and modified countless vb forums and worked with PHP/MySql over the years, i have a bunch of servers etc. I run a busy tech company, so i'm not without things to do but if you need the help I'll definitely make the time to help out PradoPoint however i can just let me know.

Pradopoint owner Aaron: What is going on with Pradopoint?

Aaron is aware of the issues. He is currently dealing with some real world work and life issues and attending to the forum as he can. Timing is a poor thing sometimes and delays sadly occur when priority of jobs takes place.

Per my latest discussion this morning. We are underway with progressing ahead with the forum upgrade and the moving the entire thing to another server (as that is the cause of the constant search crashes).
This should be completed within the next 24-72 hours.

Aaron will then find time to look at and reply to the said posts.

We thank you for your patience in this matter.

Thanks for keeping us up to date and filling in the missing gaps of the communication.

The forum is the reason I have met so many great people over my time here so it is good to hear that progress is being made to rectify the issues.
