                  Hi all,

After lurking here for ages, finally joined up! Unfortunately, I'm based in not-so-sunny Scotland after growing up in Zimbabwe and living in South Africa for ages. Been very lucky to travel most of South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia in an 80 series GXL 4.5 - but having moved to the UK we had to 'downsize' a bit - but certainly not in terms of vehicle ability!

                  So the wagon:

                  2005 LC120 'LC5' D-4D 5-spd Auto
Colour is Argenta Silver, with grey leather trim
(the LC5 is the UK equiv. of a Grande, with TEMS and air suspension and all that brings...)
Land Cruiser (we don't call 'em Prado's - just 'Land Cruiser' )
The euro model has a rear under-slung spare instead of the 2nd fuel tank, so only 87 litres on-board and bum ground clearance due to the spare being underneath - mom's taxi's have no problem - I do

                  Mods to date:

                  Cooper 265/70x17 STTs
                  Howling Moon 'Tourer' roof tent
                  Waeco 40 litre freezer
Rear door table (thanks, PradoPoint, for the inspiration!!)
                  Safari Snorkel
Home-made 3rd battery system to luggage area (the LC120 in the UK comes std with twin batteries in the engine bay, but retains 12 volt starting)
                  ASFIR skid plates
                  Billet Racing Diff Breathers
                  30mm wheel spacers
                  munched-up side steps - now removed :?
                  President Walker CB
Home-made 'car-puter' and navigation system (back in bits again ...)

                  To come (starting this Saturday!!)
                  40mm body lift (Saturday!)
Custom slider / step / hi-lift jack point replacement for the munched ones.
Darren's now world-famous suspension solution for the Grande  - hopefully another 40mm lift there ...
TJM Type 17 winch bumper, Goldfish winch. (Bull-bars are outlawed in the UK - too dangerous to pedestrians   ) so it has to be a 'winch bumper'
2,4m roof rack - probably a Patriot or FrontRunner expedition rack
Decent cargo barrier (probably a Milford, if I can get one out here for a decent price)
Custom rear drawer / packing system.

We're planning a North African (Morocco) trip for hopefully this time next year for a month - so I need to extract digit on the mods!

Thanks for an excellent site - has been an inspiration, and probably will continue to be so!

                  Cheers

                  Gary

                    Hey Gary, welcome to Pradopoint.com

I'm always happy to see how folks not in Australia see the Prado (LC5, whatever) and how they adapt them for the local laws and conditions.

I was in Skye and Orkney last year and some of the roads would have been great for the capabilities of the Prado, BUT would have barely fitted on some of the roads

Hope you have great fun kitting out your rig.

                    Cheers OldGreyGuy

                        Hi Guys

Hope you don't mind me droppping in on you. Sorry my Rig is not a Prado, but a close relative (well a Toyota with a D4D diesel anyway)

Curiosity has finally got the better of me and I decided to drop over here from http://www.newhilux.net where I waste too much time to own up to, just to see what goes on. After all, I am pretty keen to pinch a few parts off the Prado to finish off my build up (eg. Brakes and Diffs) But anyway, this is what I drive:

Pretty well kitted out now with compressor, pressure pump, hot water, 100 litres of water, custom drawers, Car PC and all the other stuff. She's set up for touring and sports 265/75 R16 Dick Cepek Crusher tyres.

Thanks for the compliment Neil, the tent is an RV4. I bought it when I had a Suzuki, sometimes sorry I did not get the RV5, but this one is plenty big enough for the missus and me. We finally found some right sized cross legged stretchers and it is very quick to set up camp now. About 20 minutes but that will get faster with a few more ideas for the back I have got planned.
