  • Hi all,
Been lurking around here for a while now and already gained quite a bit of valuable info, but as i am now officially a prado owner thought i had better introduce myself. Picked up my brand new ZR in Metal Storm yesterday and so far seems to be a step up from my patrol!
Still stock but have a TJM steel winch bar getting colour coded and will get an towbar fitted at first service. Then will have to wait for funds to increase enough to do much else.
Hope to see some of you round the traps and thanks for all the good advice on here.

Cheers mate, Always loved shorties but couldn't find a decent patrol so bought a ute, then they released these, so had to save up the coin to have one Can't get over the turning circle of it tho, big change from a patrol ute.

              • Hi

I've been lurking for a while and will probably continue to lurk for a while longer.

We've currently got a Subaru Outback but are planning to get a Prado at some point in the next few years. The Subaru gets us everywhere our friends can go at the moment - so we'll have to convince some of them to upgrade :-)

I've learnt lots by reading the various topics though don't have much to contribute yet.

                • Welcome Peter, keep looking and reading, make sure you let us know when you get the Prado. You wont know yourself off road compared to the Subi.

                  Cheers Andrew

Hi Peter. Welcome & well done for introducing yourself. In fact, your first post is an excellent example to others.

Lurking is a good idea when new. Get the feel for the forum, read the existing threads, try & answer your own questions first before immediately asking others to do this for you, and if you are still stuck - jump in with your next post (assuming you've already introduced yourself) and begin to contribute. And by contributing (that is not just asking questions then leaving) you will become a valued member of this forum.

Indeed, you may have noticed already that the information you can get from this forum is only part of the fun. The rest comes from the genuine friendship and mateship that forum members offer each other time & time again. And if you're around long enough - to hopefully experience at least one Pradopoint GTG.

Don't worry about not having a Prado yet. Your subi gives us something to stir you about until you see the light.

                    • Hi folks, my name is Michael and I've posted a few times, but just found this thread. A huge thanks to all the PP community! This site has answered a ton of questions for me, and especially has given me the confidence to challenge opinions thrown around by salesman and trust in my own research when picking up things for the prado.
I purchased my '08 120 GXL in April this year, and this is my first 4wd. Learnt heaps over the years from my old man driving 80 and 100 series, and now he is so impressed with my 120 that he traded in the 100 for a new 150
I've always been into camping, but now the 4wd is opening a new world to me to get more and more remote in search of nature, fish and waves.

Good onya mybo. It's new members like you that'll keep this forum thriving. The 120 series is a top 4wd if I don't say so myself.

Enjoy your new rig and this forum.

                            • Hi guys & girls. Yet another owner from Dubai here
Just purchased a Nov reg 2010 VX-L w 45,100km (the one option below Kakadu? - 3 cameras & no terrain selection). Looking forward to take it to Liwa, Sila'a Peninsula, Hatta Mountains and the Far North (RAK & Beyond). Have had some great driving Down Under as well, looking for Grasswrens (of all things): Strezlecki Track, Birdsville, Cameron Corner, Mitchell Plateau in the far northwest, Gibb River, Iron Ranges etc. Not bad for a Norwegian on repeated holidays.
Luckily fuelfrices here in the Emirates remains pleasantly subsidised by our ruler.
                              Cheers

                              • Hello one and all,

I am now the proud owner of "Patsy" Prado. It is a KDJ120R, GLX, diesel automatic, built in late 2006 and reg in 2007. Extreemly well looked after, hardly a mark on it. Still has a month left of extended warranty. Never been off road - 85000km's. Love it!

I have owned a few of the old country "oilers" and have finally seen the light. And what a bright light it is too!

I am a marine engineer by profession and was sea going for many years, both man and boy. Diesel engines are my passion, both very large and small. Since comming ashore I have been in technical management, which is where I find my self today, here in Tasmania, although now at the grand old age of 60 I will be retiring at Easter.

Once Patsy is out of warranty I will begin my servicing routines - already have a secondary Racor fuel filter/water trap on order from the US. Other engine mods will follow as deemed prudent.

Nothing quite like opening the door of Patsy and hearing that proper "clunk" as the door shuts. Fantastic vehicle, just love driving it!

                                Regards,
                                Shifter.

                                2007, GXL, D4D Auto, Racor 230 filter with 10 mic (98%) cartridge,
