  • Hi everyone,

My name is Anne, and my husband's name is Jeff. We have recently upgraded from a Rav4 to a Prado, and we are extremely happy with it!
Being a big user of forums, I was quite happy to find an Australian Prado forum.

Model: GX Turbo Diesel Manual Auto
    Year: 2006
    Colour: Silver
Accessories: Air Con (not standard in the GX...odd decision for Toyota! Selling a car without A/C is like selling a car without indicators!), Tinted windows, sidesteps, towbar (for when we tow the motorbikes to Phillip Island), cruise control.
Wishlist: Winch, snorkel, nudge bar, roof racks - and still checking out accessories!

Hope to meet some of you out and about soon!

Send a PM (person message) to "warby". He used to organise stickers for forum members. I'm sure he is still doing it.

          cheers

          • Spot on Kel. Warby is still the man. I just got some more off him last week.

Esie, if you send Warby a PM requesting a sticker, he will PM you a postal address. Send him a stamped, self addressed envelope and go and stand out by your letterbox   Its that easy.

            Cheers

              • Hi

Name is Ian Rogers and I live and work in Brisbane although I have a 1300 acre farm 3 hours west at Millmerran where I was born and bred. I've had 3 Pajeros over the last 20 years but got tired of the rattles on dirt roads and the fuel consumption on petrol. Going to Fraser Island in January and want to do Western Qld, Central Australia and the Flinders Ranges in the next few years. Not really into hard 4wd - probably more a tourer up to the point where a real 4wd is required.

                Model: VX Prado Diesel
                Year: 2007
                Colour: Metallic dark gray
Accessories: self installed reversing camera, UHF radio, TJM DBS dual battery system and homemade shelf system with waeco fridge slide in rear. ARB wire basket on roof, genuine towbar. Usual recovery gear - hand winch, snatch strap, tree trunk protector etc.
Wishlist: bull bar to mount driving lights and UHF aerial (currently using magnetic roof aerial mount). Will get a winch compatible bar even if I don't initially install a winch. Poly air bags in rear, maxtrax, exhaust airbag, HF radio (aspiring amateur radio operator)

Thanks for the welcome. No license yet but I'm a member of the WIA and the Redcliffe & District club. Hoping to do my Foundation course early next year. I've been watching Codan and Barratt HF radios on Ebay and will join the VKS737 network sometime.

                        • Well time to step in and say hello as i have been lurking for a while now.

My name is Will and my wifes is Alex and we have an 8 month boy Lachlan and discovered this site on one of those sleepless nights when he was a newborn.

This is our 2nd 120 series and love it. Doubles as a work car to so don't have to fight the wife for the keys. Oversee orchards and that sort of stuff so tend to be offroad for half of the time which is great.

Have made a couple of additions and hope that the suspension will be next but time and surplus cash is always the issue.

Living at the base of the High Country we try to disappear most weekends even if only for a day to get away from it all and helps that the little bugger loves the car.

Do a Fraser trip most Augusts so never know might see a couple of you northerners next year or if anyone wants a weekend blast around down here drop us a line.

                          Will

                          • Gudday all, Just introducing myself to the forum. We live in Latrobe Valley, Gippsland, Vic and have done for 30 years. I'm not entirely new to 4WDing but now very much enjoy our 120. We have previously had a Kluger but had to upsize when the new caravan grew in weight. We just could not afford to have the insurance company turn their back because we exceeded their towing capacity of the Kluger. We get away in the van as often as we can and look forward to retiring in a few years and spending extended time on the road as gypsies. We love the free camping lifestyle and are amassing quite a lot of sites within an hour or so of home to spend a very quiet destressing weekend blue-dome worshipping. So the prado is very much a tow vehicle with occasional forays off road but not overly rough terrain. Afterall its gotta be fit tow us home again. We're planning a trip to Echuca and then down the Murray for January. On the list also is a trip to see family in Perth in May, and Huskisson in September. I have enjoyed reading through this forum after I stumbled across it late one night. You all seem to be a fine buch of people and helpful with your information. I hope I can be the same. I have recently aquired a Scan gauge and find the info it gives quite intersting. Great to know the fuel comsumption instantly instead of waiting weeks to work it out. I am quite impressed at how eficiently one can drive the 120 if you really try. Must organise to get a sticker.
2006 GXL V6 Auto, Garmin Nuvi 660 sat-nav.ScanGaugeII, Cooper ATR. UHF. Tow 22ft Paramount hardtop van, lots of free camping, and love it.
The Journey and where you stop along the way is just as important as the destination!

                            • G'day all,

This is an awesome forum. I do not own a Prado as yet however I have placed my order with Toyota and expect delivery some time end of Feb or early March 08. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I have been a Nissan man for many years and have copped a fair bit of rubbish from the father in law who is Toyota through and through. The last 4x4 that I owned was a 2005 GU Patrol ST wagon which I have just sold to make way for the Prado. A mate of mine had a Prado which I was fortunate enough to drive. Needless to say I fell in love with the Prado. Although the Patrol is a tough vehicle it could not be compared to the Prado for refinement. This is what I have ordered.

                              2008 Toyota Prado GXL
                              3 litre T/D with auto
                              Charcoal grey
                              Sovereign bullbar
                              Towbar
                              Tinted front windows
                              headlight & bonnet protectors
                              Floor mats front and rear
                              Rear cargo mat

I have also been talking to Mav (member) who has given me some excellent advice on the aftermarket GPS system. I will be ordering the roadrover GPS prior to vehicle arrival so that it can be fitted straight away. Thanks, Higgsee.
