Just ordered my new set of boots for the prado. I was generally disappointed with the lack of technical information available to assist me with my decision but thankful for the reviews on this site. I have settled with the YOKO GO12 275/65/17. The tyre is legal with 14mm increase in OD and legal increase in width. It has a higher speed rating (H) and load rating (115) than any 265/65/17 tyre that I could find. Is more readily available than the Pirelli and has at least 4mm more tread depth than the silent armour or D694. I have used several other 4wd tyres over the years including Kelly, hankook, Coopers (ST), BFG (AT), Dunlops (various) and wouldn’t really go back to any of them except the BFG. The only reason I didn’t this time is that my brother and I have been using BFG AT for about 15 years and since the BFG AT KO on my last car I don’t think there has been a new model of the AT released. I thought that with recent advances in CAD and silicon rubber compounds that a new model might have been justified. Many would say it doesn’t need to be fixed but my curiosity got the better of me and I am prepared to put my money where my head is and try something different.
If anyone has any experience with this tyre then I’d love to hear it before Friday when I part with the cash.
Thanks for all of the helpful reviews
Cheers
