    Re: Beaudesert or TaipanXP exhaust?

Can someone with a better memory than me remind of the size of the EGT prope bung in the Beaudesert dump pipe?

My memory is 1/4 BSPP can someone confirm?

Well, I suppose we can re-open this thread and weigh another brand into the debate and that would be the MANTA PRO 3" mandrel bent system for the 1KZ-TE and D4D that are available in stainless steel with a 10 year gaurantee and the mild steel system with a 2 year gaurantee.

Check my thread for pics and vids aswell as my thoughts.

        http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6616

Very nicely built system and made in Perth (or just outside in Cunderdin) by MANTA.

          Mitch,

It would be interesting to do a side by side comparision of my 3" TaipanXP system a your Manta system. I'd be like to compare the quaility and noise levels.

            Why not indeed.

We might have to arrange another outing...

Re: Beaudesert ,TaipanXP or Manta exhaust?

I'm convinced in upgrading my exhaust but don't really know a whole lot about them, so couple questions:

Is the only advantage of stainless over mild steel the fact it will last longer (plus look more bling)?
What price tag are we looking at for a new exhaust (Taipan, Beaudesert, Manta)?
Do they need to be professionally installed (ie. DIY, mechanic or exhaust pro)?

              Cheers

Yes, however stainless is more prone to cracking, especially near welds

I can only vouch for the Beaudesert one but I believe they are all in the same ball park price. I paid just over $1k in mild steel, with ceramic coated dump pipe and delivery to Adelaide. (From Qld)

Do they need to be professionally installed (ie. DIY, mechanic or exhaust pro)?
If you are mechanically minded, and have a basic tool kit (Socket set and spanners) then it's an easy DIY.

Ahh, awesome... Big difference huh? I can't believe how much difference it's made to MUMSRIG. Like a new beast. Still too early for me to do a fuel consumption check yet, should be providing these figures on my next break.

                    And Corbo,

The stainless MANTA system has a 10 year guarantee so as far as the welds cracking.....well if they did then you've got 10 years to test their welding skills. The only time i've seen stainless last less than mild steel is on rotaries where by they exit straight out of the exhaust ports and do a 90degree bend stright away. The heat build up is incredible. My pipes on my 330hp 13b turbo used to glow white hot and I never had a problem with welds cracking or anything else.

The mild system through MANTA still carries a 2 year warranty and costs less than $1000, they can also have the dump pipe Jet Hot or HPC coated if you wish and can weld in a EGT port also.

Just have a look at my exhaust thread on here to see more.

Going to be ordering a Manta exhaust in the next couple days and just considering whether its worth getting the dump pipe HPC coated. Any opinions?

Really, it would depend on cost. If there is not a huge cost difference then go for it. It's certainly not something that you are going to see so it's not a visual enhancement and I really don't think your going to get mind numbing benefits from doing it either.

Tell us how you go with the system and when you get it.

True, but have you seen how long the dump pipe is. I'm pretty sure for the money it would be hard to notice the benefit. Still if I were going mild steel I would have asked for it  Just cause I could say I had done it 8)

Whats the benefit from going stainless steel over mild steel?

Is it just the rust/longevity factor, or does stainless dispell heat better, or wha?

I always thought that a stainless system sounded tinier but I was wrong. I have full stainless systems on two vehicles now and the note has been bueat! One thing that MANTA did tell me when I enquired about the stainless system was that compared to the equivalent mild steel system the stainless system was actually quieter and the note more defined, not droney but more solid if that makes sense?

Of course longevity is another determining factor and the fact that the SS system through MANTA carries a 10 year warranty must say something!

Here is some info on stainless http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stainless_steel
