      Hi

I had an Alpine unit in my 90 but it only had road maps but was a really easy install and worked a treat. It was 2k though.

              • I ended up going one of these has the Capacitive screen and is android based seems ok so far just getting used to android but fitting was not to hard cost 380.00 delivered with a reversing camera was about 7 days from order to delivery with the fedex option

just added Sygic gps app cost about 37.00 and the Hema app another 50.00 and a 8 gig sd card 15.00 and a Toyota ISO cable from super cheap 15.00 to connect the unit still had to solder but atleast I did not butcher the original stereo plug on the car put in a better file manager total command and they all installed and run ok

                • Dave05, I've fitted the model before this one with the knobs for volume and adjustments. Had a couple of minor problems with missing software, but Matt was fantastic and had updated stuff out to me in the mail within a couple of days. So far still going well after 15 months.
                  Common sense isn't that common.....

                  • Bit of an update with my digoptions unit...

Yeah still works OK but i found the screen went ballistic a while ago....the touch didnt work etc. I swore at it for about 20 mins before the mrs got a cloth out and cleaned the screen....hey presto worked fine again. i think you have to keep that screen spotless or it gets confused.

As for boot up time mine is pretty quick to be fair - probably about 5 seconds? Its not instant but good enough.

Radio reception is still crap tho...

the source button stays red but i think its designed that way and i kinda like it. Actually i really like the way it looks like its a factory install rather than some 'supa kool fully sik ICE unit innit bruv' with heaps of 'bling'. (jeez 15 years ago i would have loved all that crap)

My oziexplorer is fine. ive loaded it up with HEMA maps too and used it on a few journeys. No issues crashing although it did freeze once after i first installed it - never since.

I think at the end of the day its about expectations. Its a budget $500 unit. so its going to work like a budget $500 unit - clunky, maybe a bit slow etc. If you want something better its going to cost more. Im only running it as it was cheap and i wanted the ozi explorer and a rear view camera. Its been fine so far and once it shits itself ill go and get an android based unit as MS CE is ancient!

                    • just an update on the Oziexplorer side of things.

I found it an absolute pig to use. Its really complex and powerful but is a mission to use whilst on the run. Came across the exploreOz 'skin' for it for only $10 on the website. I have installed that and now its brilliant! really simple to use...kinda like a HEMA layout.

Unit is still going OK(touch wood)...actually its going a bit better since an update i got sent by Matthew.
