  • 'Riverwood Downs' visit - Pradogxlv6 & Samo

Also did some times and distances today, for those going on the Stockton Beach trip it is :
Riverwood downs gate to Lavis Lane servo is 96km or 1hour 30min sittin on the limit
For those in desperate need of supplies there isnt really a huge selection of shops, Glouster is around 50km from Riverwood Downs, stock up before you come. Well if you do need supplies there turn left onto Bucketts Way from Monkeria Rd and head to Glouster there they will have everything you need, it is the major town in the area, or if you turn right on Bucketts Way from Riverwood Downs 20km down the road you will hit a little town called Stroud Road (i think) ops: , it has a small takeaway/general store/ bottle shop, it also a diesel and unleaded bowser, 27km from Riverwood is the town of Stroud it has pub/ bottlo, chemist, nrma depot, mower shop/servo, paper shop, takeaway and ambo station (hope we dont need that 1) and 34km from riverwood is little town of booral it has ampol servo and a tiny bakery, all the towns r along the Bucketts Way and you will pass through them if you decide to come this way and some more useful info it is around 60km from the pacific hwy to Riverwood along the bucketts Way. cheers samo

Re: 'Riverwood Downs' visit - Pradogxlv6 & Samo

We decided that Riverwood Downs could be a spot for a Christmas Hols this year and went up to spend 5 days there. As this was the "high" season it was "cheek by jowl" along the river front but a little more open in the "paddocks" behind. The grass is mown, the toilets and showers good although a little small in number, the range of alternative accommodation is broad and the camp sites are a good size. Unfortunately it rained for all 5 days, but we were happy to read extensively and walk when the opportunity presented itself. It is pet friendly and so we had our dog as did many of our fellow campers. All dogs were well behaved and got along well. Whoever makes those huge grey tarps must have made a killing during this period as almost everyone had one that covered their tent or soft floor camper plus the area around them for social activities, cooking, sitting etc. Some had massive communal ones as well. They did the job but it strikes me that they did not seem to trust the waterproofing on their tents and campers very much!

I do have a question about the 2010 GTG if we bring dogs. What have people thought of doing with their pets when a trek into the Nat Park is in order?
The state forests and Wilerness areas are not a problem but not so the Nat Park.

        Regards

Well old mate from around the corner I just booked our cabin for our trip seeing as you have done so already. It seems that we are in the cabin next to you.

We too will be sociable and drag the chairs and the kids (gotta get drinks somehow) to the campfire and chew the fat with everyone.

              Roll on October

I booked into site 80 but I posted that info on a different forum. Things are going to be cosy from the time we leave Beaudesert on the SEQ run. Tell me you really don't snore otherwise I'll need to bring a peg and earplugs!

Hey Bobsled - I can't remember hearing myself snoring so I think the coast is clear.

I think your safe Snaga - I've heard that Bobsled doesnt want to keep everyone else awake with his snoring and he is bringing along his nose peg and ear plugs. It must be his cure for snoring. Hope it works for him   ....as I am looking forward to many good night sleeps especially since I will be his next door neighbour. :P
