Re: Scangauge on the 150 series

I ended up putting mine on the right hand side part of the dash next to the A-Pillar speaker. I stapled the velcro to the dash mat so that it would lock on and ran the cable down the inside of the door jam rubber so that you do not see it. My wife could not see the fuel gauge when it was on the steering column.

Re: Scangauge on the 150 series

Finally got round to re installing my scangauge from the Terracan into the Prado. Easy job works OK. I was looking for the book of words to work out what a couple of the gauges might be and could not find, so went on line. Does anyone have the Xgauge version with the programmable gauges? I would love to create a gauge to view the auto transmission temp when towing. Hard to tell on the web site whether there are programming codes for this. I suspect that seeing the computer in the Prado monitors this via a high temp alarm in the dash, that you should be able to see the temps in the gauge as per the coolant temp, just need the programming codes.

Re: Scangauge on the 150 series

Hi...

I've recently received an email from Scangauge in the US re: Auto Transmission Temps, etc.... This is their reply:

Hello Rob,

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, our engineers are still in the process of testing new Toyota transmission temperature codes. Currently, transmission temperature is only available for Ford, GM and some VW vehicles via the X-Gauge feature. The X-Gauge comes standard on the ScanGauge II and allows you to program extra gauges into your unit for your vehicle. Our engineers have found two codes in order for the ScanGauge II to display transmission temperature for Toyota vehicles, however they are very experimental so there is a possibility that the codes may not work.

Now, I recently tried these codes that they suggested, but without any luck as all I got was a blank space where the reading was suppose to be..... looks like it's a no go.... unless they come up with a solution down the track...... bit of a bummer as this was one of the main features that I wanted to work

Thanks, I think this one of those things that we just keep and eye on as I am sure they will come up with something eventually. It would sure beet buying a dedicated transmission temp guage for over 200 bucks.

I have one of my gauges pointing to MAP, which is supposed to be manifold pressure. Given I have a D4D engine, I am wondering what this is actually reporting? The gauge responds from 70 odd up to 150 odd depending on throttle use.

I don't think that MAP is right - MAP is for naturally aspirated engines. You should change that to BST, which is for turbo charged engines. The BST reading will show how much boost pressure is in the inlet manifold.

You can find this information from the user manual here:

Hi Rob,

Your wish may have come true. Here is a snippet of information which may be of use to you. If you have an early ScanGauge II with firmware 3.17 or earlier, the information below will NOT work. You will need to either buy a new ScanGauge II with the 4.02 or later firmware or send your old ScanGauge II in for a board upgrade to the newer firmware (it costs about $50 for this upgrade).

The following information was recently posted on the "Ample outdoors" website.

Automatic Transmission Temperature X-Gauge for Toyota Vehicles
Below is an experimental code for Toyota vehicles. We have confirmed this works in the Landcruiser 200 Series Diesel using v4.02+ SG2 firmware and we have unconfirmed reports that this code will work on the 150 series Prado diesel and 120 series V6 petrol using a v4.02
firmware ScanGauge2.

We are unsure if this X-Gauge requires ‘v4.02 - onwards’ to work or if it will work on any XGauge enabled ScanGauge2.

Get your head down and have a look behind the panel in the vicinity of the fuel door and bonnet release handles under the dash.

Guys....
With your SGII, what gauges do u have up on the display all the time as u are driving along?
I've got the following:
• Water Temp
• AVG economy
• TPS (not sure what advantage this is)
• Speed

(mine doesn't or can't give me the ATF Temps)

What do others have up on their display?
cheers..... Rob (macca)

Transmission Fluid Tempature (had to get and enter the XGuage code for this)
Water Temp
Speed
Battery Voltage

I may still have the codes for this, from memory I downloaded them from the Scanguage site.
It tells you in the booklet how to enter them.

The transmission shop that I go to, had never seen the scanguage before and they are very impressed with it & have bought some for themselves.

I have v4 and have had the scanguage maybe 8 - 9 months.

Try these one of these sets of codes. Refer to your booklet on the procedure and it's easy!
