LOL, I didn't think of it that way... I just meant, well you know what I meant.

I probably won't go too far with mods, juist the essentials - but that's what they all say, right?

Re: Glen's 95 series Prado getting broken in

    G'day brado,

Yep, it's the 50th Anniversery model and quite shiney. I thought the 50th's only came in the light silver theme (body + bumpers) so I reckon you should have a closer look at your vehicle. Does yours have velour trims on the doors and rear air conditioning vents on the ceiling?

I'm definitely happy with the suspension so far. When empty it's great, no complaints at all. With a full load of camping and heavy recovery gear it sags a bit, but there's still enough wheel/arch spacing, and it still handled great. Bare in mind I have larger mud tires, which make a huge difference to the ride quality (sloppy on tarmac corners).

My only concern with the springs is hearsay - someone else's report of the springs going too soft, too quick, so he recommended the firmer OME springs. I went with ARB's advice, and have had no such problems yet (only ~6 months of ownership).

No problems with CV's. 40-45mm isn't a big lift so I don't think you'd have problems unless you're pushing those CV angles every weekend with rough treatment.

*To keep the chat down in build up threads, please reply via PM or in the 90 series sections.*

The 50th ann models come in green also with the colour coded green flares/bumpers. Silver or green was the choice

Re: Glen's 95 series Prado getting broken in

I finally bought a UHF last week, and installed it last night. I ended up with the GME TX3340 for it's size and mic control - which allows a very discreet and tidy install.

There's a spot just under the steering which was designed for a speaker, so I've mounted it there with some custom steel brackets:

    The aerial is 4.5db:

The mic has all the controls and comes with an extension - which still needs a proper install, once I've decided on the location.

    Mic plug / extension location:

Re: Glen's 95 series Prado getting broken in

    Update:
After braking my front diff on a PP drive I had an ARB locker installed in the front.

    PP drive to Zig Zag:
    viewtopic.php?p=153972#p153972

    Photos from the scene:

    Trip home:

Diff damage, vehicle rear side spider gear:

Diff damage, vehicle front side spider gear:

When the spider gears are rotated the broken teeth line up to the spider gear on top (or bottom). The top gear can now move freely.

Some damage on the lower gear, which belongs to the driver side wheel. This is clearly where the failure occured (right wheel spinning in the air, then hits ground, and stops = snap).

Replacement diff with Air locker installed (hose on right):

Compressor located on driver side of engine bay:

A closer look from the wheel arch:
