It wasn't purchased from a Toyota Dealership.

I spoke to someone at City Toyota - who originally indicated it would be covered even though vehicle is out of warranty as there was a service bulletin regarding the issue. Took my details and said would call back - got a call an hour later from someone else saying it could not be covered as I was no the original owner and its also out of warranty.

Does anyone has the bulletin number by any chance?

Realistically - my gripe is with the paint. And that is my fault for not being thorough enough to notice the chipping on the sills until installing the side steps.

I can always do something about the mudflaps myself.....

Hi there, long time lurker here, I bought a 2010 GX Prado from a Toyota dealership a year ago and the mudflap
lengths were always a nagging issue.

Recently I had the Prado booked in a for a service, coincidentally the last day of the vehicle manufacturer's warranty
and after they went through what they were going to service/check, I said that I'm not too happy about the length
of the mud flaps as on current model Prados they are a lot longer, so it must have been a design fault initially.

Expecting a rejection, based on what I've read on the this thread and an arguement, I was completely taken aback
when they said, we'll order them in and fit them at no cost. I thought, geez, that was easy!

The new front and rear mudflaps went on this morning!

Might be worth giving your dealer's name/location given such a positive outcome.

Resurrecting old thread for the benefit of any UK readers ..... new longer Toyota mud flaps fitted at last (by me) to my 2009 Lc4 150 after over 4 years of ownership. All thanks to the perseverance of another UK forum member who got them by ordering from the VIN of a new Land Cruiser (prado in Aus). They fitted his 2010/11 model so he sent me his old set and they looked identical so took the part numbers off him and HEY PRESTO the new ones fit. So after all the previous nonsense with Mr T telling me the new long ones won't fit....? Well pleased .... even if I've had to wait so long.... and no didn't bother to go down the road of trying to get Mr T to do them FOC - lifes too short and at just over 100 can live with it!

Hi Tar Trek or anyone else who would care to respond. I know this issue was a while ago but I have a 2010 GXL and was not previously aware of the mud flap issue. Following a couple of recent trips to Birdsville have now discovered gravel rash on my rear guards. I have had a look at your post and photos (cant see from Tar Treks photos how the dealer fitted them over the existing flaps) and at first glance looks to me that might be my solution. Are you able to tell me how the dealer fitted the HiLux mud flaps over the existing flaps? Did they drill any extra holes etc and what fixings did they use.. Thanks

rayp, have you read through this thread? Just get the short original flaps replaced with the new design. There are a few posts about this being done out of warranty as a 'design flaw'.

Toyota are no longer replacing the short mudflaps under "warranty". The goodwill period appears to be over.

    Hi there,

Sorry for not responding sooner, been away for a couple of months.

Dealer used the original bolt holes to mount Hi Lux mudflaps.

I know this is an old thread.... I have just completed an 8000 km trip through central Australia, and crawled under the back of my Prado when I got back and was astounded at the rock damage to the underside of the car - for example the front edge of the towball frame has most of its paint taken off.

My Prado is a 2015 face lift GLX. Does anyone have any idea if the newer cars have the longer flaps fitted, and if not if you can get longer flaps or just have to make them up yourself?

I have the same model as you and checked out my local dealer today (Chadstone, VIC) and they confirmed the issue was resolved on the face lift models.

yes I spoke to my dealer and he confirmed it was the old models.

However, the damage my car saw with the mud flaps as they come from the factory was extensive - they are ok for protecting the panel behind the wheel, but do nothing for the underside of the car/trailer.

You can see the damage to the tow bar and fuel tank guard in the first and second photos below - and they don't really show how much there was, or the damage to the trailer. Third and forth photos show the stone guard I have built.
