    • How do I know if the recall was done....

      Hi,

I have just bought a 2005 Prado GXL with a Sovereign Bullbar. I have read a lot of posts about there being a recall for their mounting brackets. How do I know if this was done on my Prado?

Also, I am keen to get a winch. Can a winch be installed on a rig with the Sovereign bullbar? If so, how?

      Thanks!

The new bracket looks like this

If you don't have the above bracket, then:
PZQ296016ZBK 120 Sovereign bullbar recall kit (brackets only)

To fit a winch, only do so with the "recall" brackets. You'll need this winch cradle
PZQ29602WC 120 Winch Cradle to suit "recall" brackets

          • Look at posting below
"Summary of Job fitting brackets/winch cradle"
Fitted a 4wdSupacentre Grande MkIII Winch $500 to the Sovereign Bull Bar.
This required replacing the bull bar mounts $300 (expired recall) and adding the winch cradle $200

Thanks. Unfortunately your photos have confirmed that the recall hasn't been done on mine. Pity. So, no winch for me until this is fixed!

              • As you don't have the cradle it all had to come off anyway. Mounts don't make it harder just more $
Toyota won't do the recall now as it expired, I tried and tried!
$300 for brackets $235 cradle but shop about / some dealers wanted $450 and $350 for cradle.

                  • One last question from me. If I get the new brackets and the winch cradle fitted, can I then fit a winch at a later date without removing the bullbar again? I assume once the cradle is in place, a winch can be quite easily fitted anytime?

                    Thanks all!

                    • Yes. I did it at the same time and fitted the winch to the cradle and mounts to the bar and then mounted the whole thing back on the car. but since then I removed just the winch and put it back in to reseal the wires. So not an issue to do later - easy!

                        • Wow !
Heidelberg Victoria I found really expensive but Camberwell Toyota was great. The guy in parts is called Robyn I think.
                          Looking at my invoice
                          Winch Bracket TO-PZQ29602WC $183 +GST=$201
                          MTG Brkt Prado Alloy - TO-PZQ296016ZBF $283+GST=$311
                          Date of invoice: 24/6/2015
                          Phone number Parts direct: 03 9809 2299
Hi Have to say Robyn was extremely helpful and salt of the earth. He even left them under the parts desk so I could pick up on Saturday morning via the sales staff. I got fuel lines and injectors from him too recently and same story - a legend!

The guys in Heidlerberg VIC on the other hand were not even remotely interested in customer service or what i wanted, rude and i feel just made up the price.

                          Good luck

                            • Yesterday I have received my bracket set from Camberwell Toyota. Spare parts manager Robin Dutton is very helpful and he spent lots of time on my case to identify my correct parts and order it. customer service are very good. Total 314.80 including GST and compliance sticker.
                              I'm happy.

                              Regards,
                              Selvan

                              • Ive got a second hand sovereign bar.
which I think has the recall brackets?

It didnt come with any nuts or bolts, am I supposed to use existing bolts when I remove my front bumper?
